It does an OK job of cutting around the sprinkler heads. As others have said (and the instructions that came with it) it is hard to control unless you run it very slow. I found that the head is too shallow to get deep enough around the sprinkler head to cut the grass roots and it tended to just flatten a lot of the grass and not cut it. Also, the extension shaft would not fit on the arbor shaft even with the set screw removed. That wasn't a major problem for me because after using it without the extension I think it would be much harder to control with the extension.

This 4" tool is, as us old guys used to say, "the Cat's Meow!" It's super easy to assemble. "Has" to go on a 1/2" drill. Has enough torque to go through concrete, but for heavens sake don't try it......just take your time and go slow when first using. Really works best when put over sprinkler head with reverse switch on......click switch and let head go down a little in reverse and then flick reverse switch to forward position at low rev speed until you get the hang of it. Low rev's actually work best all the time. In some grasses, I can see where you could take out a plug of grass......in Florida it won't be the case and a simple screw driver cleans out the packed dirt with ease. Best tool ever for cleaning around sprinkler heads. I wish this had been around the last 10 years. Tool of the year in my book.
