Good safer splitter - but wear gloves

I highly recommend this splitter. It does a good job splitting big logs.
* Wear gloves. If you aren't paying attention, you can get your skin stuck as you are raising the ax head (between the head and the pole). It hurts.
* Do not put the ax head too deep into the wood. I have had it gotten stuck because the support for the ax is stuck in the wood.

I am a Marine Vet with back issues. I was looking for something to split firewood that would not require me to swing an axe. This product is perfect for those who have back issues and / or do not want to swing an axe

I bought this splitter because I saw The Crazy Russian Hacker's demonstration. This isn't the exact splitter he used but this one didn't cost as much either.
I just received this splitter today through it together and tried it out.
It was just what I expected.
The only disappointment was it didn't have the part that is screwed under the ax part, but it working fine so far.
As far as the reviewee above I didn't spend much for it, $58.00 is less than all the others I have seen.
If you are going to split 1 or more cords of hard wood get yourself a motorized. I only use it for my fire pit in the back yard. I split 25 5 to 6 inch diameter oak logs 6 to 10 inches long in about an hour with no problem.

The media could not be loaded. This was a good purchase! With seasoned wood it does a good job of splitting the wood in a very few strokes, depending on the size of the log. Green wood is not as easy. The placement of the splitting head is easy. If you have just a few logs to split or occasional need for smoking meat (that's what I use it for) then this is a good choice. For big jobs I'd go with hydraulic.

I liked the set up and ease of mounting with the provided spade drill hole. It's a learning process to undertake a large piece of wood, but it does work well. You must take a small side piece and not directly in the middle or it will become stuck.
