Simple to use but depends on soil type

While it is very simple to use, it is not an easy task if you have very clay rich soil. It was incredibly tough to push it down to the required 6 inch depth for the soil test and actually get a 6 inch sample plug from the tool. Not a problem of the tool per se but definitely something to be aware of.

Bought for taking samples of my lawn for soil testing. Does the job. Like the sharp edge for penetrating the ground. Had to work around tree roots a few times but otherwise no major issues.
I wish I'd bought one a little bit longer with a slightly longer sample extraction area to make it easier to remove cores. If I used it more than once a year for soil testing, I'd want a longer one with a foot peg that I could use standing up. I have to put all my substantial body weight onto it to get it deep enough into my clay soil, and it might be challenging to get a deep core for a lighter person.
