Thought my hot water heater was going bad, turns out it was filled with sand.

Pictures are of what I happen to capture in the bucket, there was a lot more at the start and end, but I was hot and tired, and thought only mid way through 5 hours, (yes, I ran this for 5 hours), did I catch sand in a bucket.

This thing saved me from going nuts listening to THMP, BUMP, RUMBLE GRUMBLE while in my garage shop. Be advised, if you run it fast, it will heat up and start to melt the plastic a tiny bit, but I kept a steady drip of cool water on it, and it did not leak or explode.

Very the speed, flush often, and do it for hours, it does not get 100%, but enough to stop the noise.

PRO TIP: Install a whole house 50 Micron auto flush filter on your inbound water supply, before you use this, otherwise, a year later, you'll be back at it.

Neat product that does exactly what they promise. I have a water heater in the attic and live in a place where the water is extremely hard and often contains sediment. The popping noises were driving me crazy. Normally this is when we replace the tank, but I thought we would give it a try. Definitely watch videos on how its used, and do them exactly as they do. One thing they fail to mention is that you will need a good 2-3 foot space around the drain valve in order to install it and couple it to a drill. I had to drain and rotate mine in order to accommodate it. The instructions are specific to only use a cordless drill, not sure why. I started with my cordless and burned through my batteries pretty quick. Also, the drill got quite hot. Switched to my corded and used it on a low speed and it worked fine. I had to flush and drill my tank for about 30 minutes to get it clean.

I bought this for when I needed to do a water heater drain and scale cleaning. I hate to work on a water heater but they are expensive and the labor to install one has skyrocketed. So I bought this and put it on the shelf for when I would do my next drain and clean session.

Well, they water heater chooses the time, not me. After getting cold water after a very short 4 minute shower, I knew that the time had come.

My last drain and clean was about 2 years ago. The level of scale build up was massive and I had to hammer a channel to insert the water heater side of the tool. Once you do this for the first time you understand that the tool screws into the drain port after you remove the drain valve. Then you attach your garden hose to drain the scale that is being loosened by the tool. You need some water in the tank to give the tool something to push the scale through the grinding part of this tool. For some reason, once I had the majority of the scale extracted from the water heater, I could never get the water heater to completely drain. And when you remove this tool, there was a flood of water that required me to quickly insert the new brass drain valve.

While you will always have water to deal with and it has a mind of its own, this tool can extend the life of your water heater. Overall this is a very clever tool and I am think that once you use it several time, it will be easier to use.

I wasn't sure what to expect when we got this, but I am so glad we did. We had jut drained our water heater the month before but felt we could hear a lot of sediment in the water heater still. We have had to replace our water heater twice in the 9-10 and I really wanted to find something that could maybe help us preserve our water heater for longer. I was shocked with how much stuff we were able to break up inside the water heater. The pictures provided show that we tied panty hose to the end of our water hose to try to catch how much sediment was being flushed out and then dumped it out in a bucket to view. I also thought it was a great price, especially if it helps preserve our current water heater longer.

This tool will save you alot of headaches after the first use. I was burning up lower heating elements every other month due to about a foot of deposit build up in the bottom of my water heater but after using the turbo tank cleaner i do not foresee any future problems. It's very easy to use and really cleans the tank up well and when your done you can dump the deposits in garden or flower bed because its nothing but calcium and other proteins.
