I live in a high rise condo, and this lock generally works flawlessly. It knows when I come and go from my property, and unlocks my door when I'm walking down the hallway approaching the door. It's reliable about 80-90% of the time - and if I stand in front of my door getting my keys out of the pocket, it usually ends up unlocking before I can stick my key in.

It is usually most reliable when wearing my Apple Watch, or if I'm actively using my phone as I approach the door.

The other reviews were enough to convince me to buy this add-on lock-automator and after almost six months of use I would absolutely recommend it (see reviews written by other why) but I cannot do so without warning. The technical details section lists several battery types needed - in the "Included Components" section 2 AAA batteries (for keypad) and two CR32 batteries. In the "Batteries" section the only listing is "2 CR2 batteries required (included)." Pre-purchase due diligence enlightened me that some brands of rechargeable CR2 batteries miss the size standard by a few millimeters. Oh, and there's no such thing as "CR32" batteries. Oh, and yds a pair of AAA is required but somehow omitted in the "Batteries" section.standard batteries. With this knowledge, I took a chance and ordered some rechargeable batteries as well. After several months of use and a better than expected overall experience, at battery changing tine, sure enough, the rechargeable spares I got were too short to fit. Since the voltage was right, and who keeps spare CR2 batteries around, I wedged a few steel washers between the battery and the - contact for both batteries. Not with joy, I ordered a name brand to have on-hand next time. They didn't fit. I even ordered the same brand that came with a new lock, only to discover that they did not fit either. It turns out the Amazon listing shows the incorrect battery size. This good lock does NOT use the non-existent CR32 size battery, nor does it use the very real CR2 size battery. No, the locking mechanism takes 2 CR123A batteries. What I find shocking and am rather disappointed by is the several reviews giving this product a low rating because of a perceived short battery life yet failed to mention the more pertinent incorrect battery size listing. Wow

Lock is easy to install, app is easy to use. It would have been perfect if it allows NFC to unlock using smart watch instead of using Google Home or Alexa with digit code. Also, it doesn't seem to allow multiple Google home users adding the smart lock.

If you're a renter looking for renter-friendly smart home devices, this is the smart lock for you. Compatible with all smart home ecosystems (Homekit included!) it's a reliable smart lock that doesn't require a key change. In fact, it will not change the exterior appearance of your door at all. This also means that it's a snap to install with minimal changes or parts to store when you're done - all you need to hold on to are a couple of screws and the original deadbolt mechanism to replace when you move out.
The batteries do tend to run out relatively quickly, especially if your doorframe tends to shift over time and the deadbolt doesn't slide into the housing with no resistance. Because of this, batteries are an additional expense to consider with this lock, but I have been comfortable with the amount I have had to purchase since buying the lock (about 1 pack).

The software is adequate and the homekit integration works well. I had some issues with the auto-unlock feature when I first installed it as it seemed to disconnect the lock from homekit, but after resetting I was able to enable the auto-unlock feature without impacting homekit integration. All in all, I'm very happy with this lock and the flexibility it gives me, especially as a renter.
