This does what I was seeking: takes up minimal space, looks nice, easy to use, dump out and when necessary clean. So far no problems opening and closing. Appreciate the extra latch gizmo included. If it fails me in the near future I will revise this rating ( had it about a month and use daily) but at this point I recommend.

We didn't need anything big, we mostly just use this for coffee, and random things like egg shells. It doesn't hold too much, and we have to fold the coffee filter with the grinds to fit. We had a bit of a gnat issue before, which is why we wanted a lid that closed and this has done the trick. Had a couple random gnats in the house at one point after using this, but not due to this and none in this little trash can, so it definitely did it's job in that sense. We just keep it on the counter, which works well. I like the way the lid pops up when you push it in to open, it's saved me some cleaning from eggy hands. I easily used my clean knuckle to open it. We considered returning it when we first got it due to the small size, but it ended up working well for our light needs
