At first I bought it would be a simple plug and play like other countries. That is not correct. I found the setup instructions a bit unclear and setting up through sms only didn't work at all. However, once I downloaded the ultra app (which I didn't want to do at all), the setup was relatively smooth. Also it was nice to be able to monitor the data usage through the app.

Only twice did the data not work and I simply closed the app and restarted the phone and it worked again.

I was mostly in the countryside so reception was usually not amazing but still acceptable for navigation and messaging.

One note: I had access to WiFi a lot so didn't use even half the data purchases but wanted to have the biggest data just to be safe. It might be better/cheaper to get the 3gb and add more manually once it is out.

I don't know why it is so hard to get a data SIM card in the USA but this is a good option amongst a lot of bad options.

Also I got a local phone number to use for free for phone calls and sms which was very useful

Compré la SIM para mis vacaciones en Miami Beach. La configuración un poco difícil, si bien descargué la App no habilitó la señal. Pude activar al enviar un mensaje de texto con el IMEI del celular al número que informaba el cartón que protege el chip. Incluye una herramienta para sacar el chip, muy útil al no portar un clip en mi viaje. La señal en la ciudad entre 10 a 15 MB, suficientes para mirar planos, Uber, lo básico. Al ir al muelle de Miami a un crucero la señal ya no funcionaba, por fortuna en la ida y regreso la empresa de crucero dispone de señal wifi para poder llamar Uber. El número celular local no lo utilicé nunca. Fue una compra útil a bajo precio, considerando que otras opciones parten de 40 dólares en otras compañías.

I had a friend visit me from Germany. She popped the SIM into her Samsung Galaxy A71 and within a couple of minutes had internet access, a USA based phone number, and could call back home for free. Very nice indeed.
