Bought this after seeing a you-tube video on pruning peach trees where the guy had a similar electric shear. I bought it with a 6 foot extension pole to allow reasonable topping of peach trees without having to use a ladder. Worked pretty well for doing that. Then I started using the shears whenever I needed to cut some larger branches up close where I normally used loppers. These shears, being one-handed, are so much faster than loppers, and their capacity (like 1.25 inches) is more than my loppers can easily do without a lot of effort. As a result, I almost never use my loppers, and these have become my go-to pruning tool for anything larger that pruning small stems. After a full day of pruning the battery is still at 70%...so one battery, which is all I have, has worked great...never needed a charge during a pruning session.
My one issue is that they seem to be pretty dangerous...could take a finger off in an instant if you aren't careful. I turn up my safety attentiveness a lot when using them...and would be a bit reluctant to give them to a child or less attentive person to use. They have a number of safety features, like turning off after a short period of no use. One needs to get use to the various ways of turning them on again...but I think these safety features are well worth the minor learning curve. So far, I'm extremely pleased. have bought two...one for ranch and one for home use.

Would rate it 5 stars on performance alone. However, the battery is not easy to attach to the shearer with or without the extension wand. It is a challenge of vertical alignment and the power needed to twist the battery into the proper alignment. Additionally, I had difficulty lining up the two support screw holes for inserting the screws on the extension wand. Also, VERY IMPORTANT, in unfolding and tightening the wand, the instructions emphasize (with an illustration) to tighten the #1 first (nearest the shearer) or risk damaging the wires due to pinching. I recommend you don't try to press the bottom third into place until you have fully tightened the screw for #1. Once assembled, it is very effective and is not too heavy for a reasonable length of time. Did not lose battery power during my cutting session. I also like it because you can use the shearer separately and with one hand. If you only want a shearer alone, there are brands with easier battery attachments. One other plus is the rigidity of the wand versus round poles that tend to bend. I recommend it despite these issues!

Great tool. I used it for the first time today for about 4 hours with a short pause for charging. It have some over grown tall trees between my and my neighbors house that are rubbing against our respective windows. This tool worked perfectly. This thing slices through branches like butter. I was worried that this tool was going to be more than an expensive toy, but thankfully that is not the case. This thing cut my pruning time by 2/3. My only regret was not getting the longer pole. The only pole that was offered with the pruner as a kit was the 7' one which in my opinion is not as well designed as the 10 footer. I also could have used the extra reach.
