Wow! I abused my shelly 1 and it still works like a charm. So many cool features.

Typically good, occasional wifi drops are a bummer

These are pretty easy to set up. Feed them hot and neutral, pigtail the hot into the "in" (if using 110v) and then connect the output to the thing you want to power. Wifi comes up fast, connect and join your own network and you're online. Mine had an old firmware on them that was resolved by clicking the "update" button. After that, add them to your platform of choice (or not at all if you live that standalone life) and you're good.

I'm pretty happy with mine thus far. I had a failed dalliance with attempting to override a furnace humidifier, but that is no fault of the shelly. It did occasionally lose wifi signal and then pop back up a few seconds later. It does not help that I installed it inside of a furnace, aka a big metal box. Not super good for signal strength, but it worked well almost all of the time minus the occasional drop. I'm taking it out of there anyway, so it won't matter soon.

I would recommend setting them up on your bench first so you can name them. If you have several, it's easy to lose track once they're all online and have no distinct name.

I know some folks are flashing tasmota, but I had no reason to. I use it with home assistant and it does everything I need it to. It turns off when I tell it to, it turns on when I tell it to. What else could you expect?
Best smart switch upgrade in the market

The Shelly switch turns your existing switches into smart switches. Fully programmable, or easily updated with open source firmware for even more options.
The only drawback of these switches is that for most people they require an electrician to install them, but that is offset by the fact that they don't change the looks or the original functionality of your switches, unless that's what you desire.
They can be easily integrated with a smart home solution for voice control, and can be used with a private home integrator, if you prefer that.
They give you the best of both worlds. No extra LEDs or indicators, but full control of your switches and devices. They play nice with regular switches, 3-way switches and push buttons. Also, due to their open source friendliness, there are lots of resources on how to use them in creative ways or for very specific needs.
I have several switches installed around my house and they are very stable. I have some with stock firmware, and some with open source firmware for a few extra capabilities. I would recommend these switches to anyone.
In my case it was great for low;tage use in my RV.
