Cuts through mortar in seconds

We had been using a regular hole saw to try and get through my plaster and lathe ceilings. Hitting the mortar and plaster with a wood hole saw destroys the blade pretty much immediately. We were looking for a different solution, and I'll tell you, this is it. This beefcake can slice through a 1/2 inch of mortar in about 2.34 seconds. Then we used it for a stucco, brick, mortar, and plaster layered wall, about 9 inches total. It did that in less than a minute, it didn't skip anywhere, it didn't crack any of the surrounding 100 y/o stonework, and it looked like it was brand new after I was done. Highly recommended.
This product performed exceptionally well and performed the job very quickly

I don't understand so many people having trouble with these bits. As a New construction plumber I use these for 1 1/2", 2", and 3" pretty often. I run these in an old bosch bulldog with no problems. They are not DIAMOND CORE BITS, they dry masonry hole saws. They cut like dry masonry hole saws. I use the extended shafts on mine drilling brick over 6- 8 inch solid concrete walls. They are not the fastest tools for brick but again, they are 20-30 bucks vs a 150-300 wet core bit. 2 things I do is remove the pilot bit and screw after the hole saw starts and if the slug does not break out on its own I not it loose with a long chisle or form pin. Takes about three taps and back to drilling.
Again if I get 10 holes ( usually more by far ) out of a $20 bit I'm not going to complain. Think about what the tools actually doing. It's taking a beating, literally. Do I recommend these? Absolutely. I've put them through the paces. Like anything else, there's always the fluke chance of getting one that just fails for one reason or another.
3 inch Core bit good enough for Joe home owner use.

I bought this to core a hole in the concrete curb for landscape drain lines. The 3 inch core bit worked well and cut a clean hole and got the job done. The bad was probably user error. I used the core bit with pilot bit expecting the pilot to lead the way. The bolt holding the bit was not up to the job. Once the pilot bit spun and did not hold the pilot drill the core did not progress. I then drilled a pilot hole using another 1/4 bit and the core bit followed that pilot hole. The SDS shank was damaged at the connecting end and I twisted it out of shape with my hammer drill. Probably user error as I drilled too deep and the bit bound up causing a backlash on the drill slamming the handle into the ground multiple times. I should have broken the core every one inch to prevent binding. So the ruined SDS shank was probably my fault. Once I figured that out it went better. This was purchased as a one use item for a specific job and most likely I will never use it again so the price was right and it worked. It would have lasted longer if I knew some of the tricks I learned along the way. Would I buy it again? Yes.
