I bought a second unit as my first one worked great. The unit was easy to install and very user friendly. I also got a great discount from ecotouch and amazon on my second purchase. I will be purchasing a third unit if there need be....excellent product and great customer service by ecotouch.

I bought this for tiny house/hunting cabin project. I have a 50Amp RV power hookup and was looking for on demand water heating for sink and shower. Since it may be a few weeks in between visits to the cabin I was shopping for a unit that is 1) Tankless to avoid keeping water in a water heater tank, and 2) On demand and small enough that would not draw too much power. I was looking at both the 5.5kW and 6.5kW model from Ecotouch and decided to go with the 5.5kW. If you are comfortable with the plumbing and able to install a 30amp double pole breaker for the 240V supply the installation is pretty simple. The unit is surprisingly small and simply hangs on the wall. I have the heater below the sink, and shower stall built right next to it so the pipe is very short going to either sink or shower. From testing so far the heater works as advertised. Easy to turn on and adjust the desired temperature, and after selecting temperature the display switches to show current temp in the unit. In my setup the water is pumped from holding tank in the cabin itself so starting temp stays around 65-67 degrees. I keep the unit set at 110 degrees output. The pump is 2.9 GPM max, so with faucet wide open the water gets warm but it does not get to 110 degrees, as expected from the specs. If closing faucet halfway, at approx 1.4 GPM it does easily reach approx. 100 degrees within seconds, and if closing faucet a little below halfway it will reach 110 degrees at constant flow, but of course water flow is lower at that point. Product specs are - 67 deg water will reach 109 deg at 1.2GPM. I may look for a flow regulator to more precisely test flow rate, but seems to be accurate.

Results: The hot water supply to sink works great, as described taking the temperature and flow rate limitations into mind. I have seen other reviews that have used for a shower. My shower stall not quite finished but I will test the output once complete, keeping mind this is a small unit and will not achieve the flow rate of my shower at home for the size. It will probably work as expected.

The unit performed as rated in my south Florida home. For testing purposes, and because my incoming water is so warm in July (82.9F), I set the unit to 130F. The sink flow rate was 1.07 gpm passing through ~12 ft of pipe (6 plastic, 6 copper). The temperature increase was 39F (21.7C), from 82.9F to 122F. Assuming no heat losses, a 5.5kW unit should have delivered a 37.5F (20.8C) boost, about 1 degree F less than what I measured. But this difference is easily accounted for by the temperature drift. I have an old heat recovery unit on my AC. During the winter the incoming water will be around 10F lower, so that will be the practical test of the unit. But I still think it will serve my needs just fine.
Of course, with our hard water, I am concerned about scaling reducing the functional life span of the unit. The old tank water heaters can last up to 20 years. I'll be happy to get 5 years of service from this tankless unit.
I am very happy to have quickly replaced my failed water heater tank with this small tankless unit. It required no changes to my wiring, breakers, or piping. However, I do feel guilty about potentially adding to the peak load requirements of our regional utility. I have a 6.5 kW solar system on my roof, but only grid-tie. Hopefully, technology will drive down the cost of batteries in the coming years.
