When you look at this product page on Amazon, based on the pictures, you'd think you'll get this item and immediately be making your own hams, deli meats, pepperoni logs and summer sausage based on the pics provided. The truth is, this thing comes with minimal instructions and no recipes. Having said that, this is a really cool gadget to own if you have food allergies and/or care what's in the food you eat. I did some online sleuthing and there are a handful of ham maker recipes online that you can try. What I did, was try the recipe in the video above. I wouldn't recommend it. It was bland with a weird aftertaste. But it was easy and a good practice round. If you're someone who is really into making your food from scratch this gadget is something you'll definitely want in your kitchen arsenal. If you don't like creative cooking or having to find/figure out recipes on your own, this is not the gadget for you.

I got this ham maker to make organic lunch meat at home. I'm spoiled and unwanted to figure out how to get that deli meat consistency. This ham maker baking container is it!

I did have to do some extra research online, because the instructions were lacking on suggestions and guidance. I ended up using ground chicken and seasoning, and baking in a water bath at 300 for a couple of hours. I didn't use any binder or filler. Once it's been cooled and refrigerated, take it out and run the pan under hot water, use a spatula to run around the side, and the loaf will slide right out. Alternatively, you can line the pot with parchment prior to cooking. My lunch meat came out delicious and sliceable.

The container is all stainless steel. It was smooth, heavy and without flaws. It also came with a thermometer to stick into the middle through an opening, but it only reads in Celsius, so I used one of my own, which also fit in the hole and worked fine.

Do not try to use this without water bathing in another pan. It is uncoated stainless steel and will burn to a crisp and isn't made to be used without it.

The pressure plate has a large heavy spring and is well made.

I have no complaints and am so excited to have found this. My meat could've been ground up finer, and I could've used a binder and my finished product would've had a finer texture, but that's a user preference and not to do with the product.

If you want to be able to make your own lunch meat, buy this "ham" maker. I would actually recommend buying a couple. You have to heat up and run the oven for a couple of hours anyway, so it would be smart to make more than one at a time.

I picked up this little gem to try my hand at making a Gyro meat log and it worked well. As long as you stick to lean beef/lamb. so easy to use. Just cook it like the ham instructions that are online. 160 degrees is the key internal temp. a bit hard to clean afterwards but not any harder than a pressure cooker. Great product! Love it.

It's a very straight forward ham maker. I use it to make seitan ham and it works very nicely. It's made of stainless steel so you don't have to worry about rust. The thermometer works fine but I don't tend to use it. Overall very sturdy and nice quality ham maker.
