Now, I purchased a low-pile rug, and it was like walking on sandpaper UNTIL I purchased this thick, plush, and heavenly rug mat. The whole family was rolling around on the rug like rugrats and our toddler managed to hit his head multiple times and not cry like he did with the old cheap plastic rug mat. This new 1/2" rug mat makes our cheap rug feel luxurious. Love this rug mat so so much. Also, it is made entirely of recycled materials so there was no off-gassing when we took it out of the package. Win-win!
You just gotta buy the rubber grippers, that's all.

So we saw that a LOT of these reviewers complained about how the carpet gets all slidey and they're falling all over the place breaking their necks like out of some infomercial. ("There's gotta be a better way!") Well, yeah, it's slippery for sure, so we just spent a few more bucks buying rubber rug grippers (and some double-sided rug tape for parts that our desk chair roll over) and the problem was solved. This added great cushion to one of our big bedroom sports rugs. Highly recommend--but only if you go buy the grip tape and/or rubber grips, too.

The pad that I received was much larger than the size I ordered. Cutting the pad was a bit challenging until I found the right tool: a very sharp pair of scissors. At first, I tried using an older pair of scissors but could only cut a couple of inches before they jammed up with particles from the pad. I then ried using a box cutter but that was not any better. Finally, I gave in and used my sharp kitchen shears: they worked like a dream!
This pad is very comfortable and adds good cushion to my area rug.
The smell of the pad when I first opened the package was terrible. I almost returned it immediately. I decided to stick it out. After about 24 hours, the smell had completely gone. I would definitely buy this product again, even though it had quite a stench for the first day or so.
