After years of using old, cracked dishes that have carried me through college, I finally caved and purchased this set. Outside of the obvious benefit of preventing soup from covering my countertops, these dishes have several benefits. I like how the different designs compliment each other and the varied shapes are perfect for all occasions, meals, and portions. The dishes are also extremely durable. After a glass of wine (or two) I have slammed these into the dishwasher with the uncoordinated force of baby giant and not a scratch, dent or chip yet! The only reason I give these dishes 4 stars is because I do not like the color as much as some handcrafted ones. However, they certainly look exactly like the photos so you get exactly what you expect and color comes down to personal preference anyways.
Long story short, if you had old cracked dishes like me this message is for you"¦ YOU DESERVE MORE! YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN SPILLING CRUMBS AND GROSS JUICES IN YOUR KITCHEN AND ON YOUR CLOTHES! Just do it already and thank yourself later

This set has the exact shapes I want in plates and bowls. I love "dinner bowls" and eat most of meals out of them. I also like taller bowls like these that are small in diameter. The colors are great.
The downside is almost every plate and bowl has defects. They all have imperfections in the outer clear coat layer. It's like they all took a scratch or two before they were fired. Every plate has a chip or scratch from when the clear coat and/or paint outer layer was still wet.
It's just low quality. But I got a bunch of them and will use them for the foreseeable future.

Was looking for a new set of dishes to compliment my kitchen reno and these filled the bill. They are quite substantial, they're not light. Replaced Mikasa set with these and they are definitely 'pottery weight' in comparison but that's okay as they are so pretty and modern. Only downside is they can't go in oven which the Mikasa could.

I purchased two sets of these dishes in Taupe, and am very, very happy with them. Both sets arrived without any broken pieces. Because of the reactive glaze, there are slight differences in some of the finishes, and I expected that - I like that aspect of it.
The flatter bowls are great for salads and pasta, and the smaller bowls are awesome for soup, cereal, cottage cheese and just about anything else you might want to put in them. The dinner plates are very large and sturdy, and the salad plates the perfect size and very festive looking with the white tic marks.
One of the salad plates was slightly smaller than the others, and missing all of the white tic marks - it looked like a mini dinner plate. I emailed Gibson thru their web site explaining the anomaly, asking if there was a way to purchase a single salad plate for the set. I hadn't heard back yet via email, but FedEx delivered one to my door today (-: Great customer service and a nice surprise.

I looked long and hard for a dinnerware set because I couldn't find the right color and sizes that matched up with good reviews, especially regarding durability.
This dinnerware set , which I purchased almost 2 months ago, finally fit the bill. The size and weight of the dinner plates are just right for this 70 year old and I have had no problem fitting them in my older dishwasher. The smaller bowls fit right into the palm of my hand due to their shape but still hold as much as my older and larger bowls. The larger bowl/plate shape has worked perfectly for rice , salad and pasta dishes. And lastly, the flat sandwich plates are a perfect weight and size for a small salad or sandwich. The ascetic look is neither too fancy or too casual and carries just enough elegance (the green is a nice neutral green). I already had plenty of mugs and cups so I was glad to not have to get them in a set again. I ordered two sets and upon delivery, found one small plate with a chip which Amazon promptly reimbursed me for. Very happy with these so far.
