I am an explorer. The more I play with a new software, the more I learn about its features and ease of use. VideoStudio comes with video instructions for those who do not dare jumping in head first. I am slowly learning on my own, without the videos, to create a more professional looking video. There are so many title applications and transitional elements it has taken me a while to get the hang of creating my own video that is pleasing to the eye. That's the way I like to learn- playing with the different combinations to find the one that best fits the videos mood. It's getting easier with each video.

Positives:
Interface is easy to use
Comes with a VERY helpful user-guide and well thought out video tutorials
Has a lot of basic and fun filters
Exporting videos works as expected and is quite fast overall
Has built-in video recording for DVDs and external device capture (like a capture card or camera)

Negatives:
Can be a bit laggy, even on good hardware
Uses far more disk space than the installer says (~20 GB rather than 4 GB)
Filters leave a bit to be desired (speed adjustment for example has no frame interpolation options)
The Mask function doesn't seem to automatically adjust per-frame, leaving you do to it manually

Notes:
HEVC usage requires purchasing the HEVC Media extension from the Microsoft Store
You need to make a Corel account to use the software
Package does not come with anything but a slip of paper with the product key + download link

Review:
This video editor is pretty decent overall! The interface isn't the best I've seen, but it's generally well thought out and works well enough! The inclusion of video tutorials and a well-written user guide means that these issues are rendered almost irrelevant though, as you'll quickly learn the software and get the hang of it.

Regarding the feature set: there are a few things that could be added such as video interpolation or upscaling. The filters that are included leave a bit to be desired, but in the end are competent and function well enough. It'd have been a nice addition however if these filters had descriptions when you hover over them, as it's difficult to know which ones to use without prior knowledge and experience.

So: If you're looking for an easy to use video editor with a good user experience and has tutorials, this is a very solid option! It's rare to see a video editor with such good documentation and help resources. However, it is worth noting that there's a large selection of video editors out there (some of which that are free) that may better fulfill your needs. Make sure you do your research!

I ordered Corel VideoStudio mainly for Screen Recorder function to create training videos since I already use other software for basic video editing and DVD burning. Since this Ultimate version had Premium Effects Collection, I wanted to try it out.

I received book size box and inside the box, postcard size key card was included. To download the software, I followed the link provided in the key card and once the file is downloaded, you will have to register the product using the key code on the card.

Note: When Google Chrome is used to download, this is the message I received "Download failed because virus was detected." If Microsoft Edge is used, small 7MB executable installation file was downloaded for the next step, big 4GB file. Downloading the file was relatively quick but installing it took long time even with the fast computer.

A great adobe alternative. This software is not a subscription service and this was a huge plus for me. The features of the software is also very comparable to industry standards such as Premier Pro, or Final Cut Pro.

my third version of this video app. like it very much but wish they would have more text to use not much added from the last 3 programs I have bought and used . disapointed with the new Ultimate 2023 with not much difference from the 2022 version . tired of using the same text in my video's
