Great value for your money

This is a great set! The spacing in the stand is a bit tight, so if you're not careful when setting down the weights your fingers can get easily caught. The weights do need to be wiped down, they left my hands black when I first handled them. Smell, not terribly bad, but there is a chemical smell to them. Giving this 5 stars based on the price compared to the rest of the stuff I saw out there.

This is our second set. Bought one for my son who's in college, but had them at our house for a couple weeks before we could take them to him. My husband used them a few times and like them so much, we got him one too. Did not have any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. Stand went together pretty easily. I'm a 54 yo, not very handy, mom and it took me about 10 min to put together. I did have to use a wrench to hold the nut in place when tightening. One of the stands had a small burr on an inside spot. You wouldn't see it once put together but it could have scratched someone when placing or removing the weights. Took me all of 90 seconds to snip and file it. The weights do smell bad when you open them and have an oily residue on them. Washed with warm water and dish soap, then dried them off and, once aired out, the smell is gone. We left them about a week in a room where we could open windows during the day - a porch or garage would do as well.

TL;DR
You can't go wrong with this weight set for the money. I got them on a flash sale for under $180, but the regular price is under $200.
The good: Easy to assemble, sturdy stand, nice grips on the weights.
The not-so-good: Rubber smell upon opening, will need some time to dissipate, so I'd plan on leaving them sit in a well ventilated area for a week before seriously using them. Also, the ends would appear to be dipped to rubberize them, and some of the material splashed onto the chrome handles. Absolutely no big deal and can be cleaned off, but something to be aware of. I would also suspect this material would wear off and expose the metal if abused (particularly if it got dropped on the corner of something).
I have no idea how they make money on these as they came to me in 4 separate boxes via UPS. I did have one weight that had some shipping damage to the end (pictured), but it's not the end of the world.

Pretty basic dumbbells. Stand was easy to put together. Shipped well, packed well, and showed up on time. I do think they should be cheaper, but who am I. They don't smell very much. All in all I'm happy with them.
