Love my Glowforge Aura!

I was so excited when Glowforge announced the Aura. This machine is what I hoped the Cricut would be. I had it unboxed and was making prints within the hour. The first day I did the items in the picture. The Aura can cut wood, acrylic, vinyl, and even chocolate (according to the website)! I doubt I'll be cutting chocolate, but you never know. I'm using the included vent hose out a window for now, but I quickly learned that I needed the extra $399.00 stand alone filter since the vent hose can only do so much to clear the air of particles. I'll make do until the filter comes in a few days. I'm really glad that Glowforge was selling this on Amazon since I couldn't find either the machine or the filter in any of the other stores they were supposed to be in. I'm having a lot of fun with this!

I decided to take the plunge and purchase the Aura despite all of the negative things I have seen online. I am so glad I did. I am loving all of the different things I am able to do. I went into this with my eyes open knowing that some things this machine is unable to work with. (Clear acrylic) I think some need to look at the many other things this machine can do to expand our crafting adventures and not look at the small amount it cannot. I have attached one photo of a small item that I made while learning the machine. Can't post others as they are Christmas gifts. :)

Unboxing and setup took 20 minutes. Software install and onboarding worked as expected. First print (I picked a Veneer Made With Love, customized it with my and my wife's name) was complex and took a while, but came out beautiful.
The air filter is cool - it turns on and off automatically when printing. Minimal print odor in the room (inside, downstairs, no window) so it performed even better than I'd hoped.
I'm not a great designer, so I'm having at it with the catalog, making small adjustments to existing designs, and playing around with photos and Magic Canvas. It's a treat.
And, really fun to have a laser cutter at this price point.

My Aura arrived much faster then Amazon stated and I had it up and running in under 25 minutes. Size is perfect for my desk and the software is super intuitive and user friendly. I didn't need to enter settings as the machine knew what material I was using with the built in QR code- that's pretty handy!
The possibilities are endless with my new Aura. It's fun and easy to use. I have used acrylic and wood and love it. I spent some time in the catalog and found some super fun designs I'm going to try next! I'm going to have a lot of fun with my new Aura!

I love my Aura. It can do alot of things but it can't do everything. this is a fun machine to play with especially if your new to laser. It is completely portable. I carry mine outside when I need to make something but you could easily get the filter kit. I love love love my Aura
