This is the best kindling splitter I have seen!

First, I only rate exceptional products as 5-Star products. 3 Stars is an average product that does what it is designed to do. I add a star for excellent value or excellent quality; for both, it gets 5 Stars.
This has excellent quality, a solid design and is the same price as the other less well made kindling splitters, so it is an excellent value, as well. It is a solid 5-Star product, despite being made in china.
I am very happy with this splitter. Bear in mind that this is a "kindling" splitter and NOT a log splitter. As a kindling splitter, this thing excels at producing perfectly sized peices of kindling for the fire.
It is a solid design, but I never took apart the other one that I have to pack it flat either, so there is little to no value in a splitter than "dismantles".
I cannot say enough about how happy I am with this thing! It really is that nicely made and works that well. As I stated before, it is a solid, one-piece design and that is perfect for travel to and use at the campsite. My neighbor saw me using it and asked to borrow because he suffered a stroke a few years ago and has little to no use of his right arm. With this he simply placed one end of a piece of split firewood in the opening, with one sitting on the splitter edge. Then he picked up the mallet and whacked the other end a couple of times and out came the kindling, he was over the moon. He ordered one for himself to keep in their travel trailer, he liked it that much.
It is a highly quality tool and works well.

Useful for smaller pieces

We have really big chunks of wood from a tree we cut down. I thought this would work to chop the wood after seeing the video. Unfortunately, the item did not seem as sturdy as shown in the video sample. It seems that you would have to screw it to the ground if you really want it to be sturdy,
This is a Kindling splitter, not a log splitter

This type of equipment has its' place. You can only split wood of certain diameter and certain length. This is not intended to replace a log splitter. It is intended to allow someone to split smaller pieces of wood into kindling. It does a great job at this. The limitations on this equipment is that can't adjust for the length of the wood. So the prep work for the wood that you would want to turn into kindling is a bit more extensive. This splitter is heavy duty and sturdy. I can recommend this for splitting kindling with no hesitation.
Depends on the Wood, but overall great for smaller wood pieces 1/3 the opening

I've used a ton of wood splitters. I do like this one and I use it on Oak and Hickory that is sufficiently aged over the summer. A lot of these smaller wood splitters I feel people try to stuff a standard log into and expect it to just break apart.
1) Green wood is going to be hard to split by hand with any hand based splitter
2) Wood that has knots is going to hard to split with any hand based splitter
using either of those and expecting an easy time splitting into kindling is not realistic. Can it work ? Yes, but you'll do a bunch of work to make it work.
3) If you don't anchor the splitter, it's going to jump around, and be harder to split the target piece of wood.
Pros
+ This is pretty well made. Once you have it anchored it takes a beating. Generally I try to only split logs for kindling in this that are about 1/3 the opening in the top. Those usually work really well, unless I hit a surprise knot. My wood is all aged over the summer before I use it in the following winter. It breaks apart well. I have put bigger pieces in here, for the most part I go a little off center like 1/3 mark and split there. I use a 3LB sledge hammer. It's a workout with bigger pieces, but this does hold up.
+ It's easy to move
+ I haven't had a log split and get stuck in the splitter and I just did about 90 pieces
+ It's for kindling not for fireplace log splitting
Cons'
- Overall some pieces of wood are difficult to get started on the split blade. I have another splitter and I can drop a piece of wood onto it and it bites into the wood ready to take hits from the hammer. This one, I have to hold the wood in place and hit with the hammer before the blade bites in. This is minor, it still works great
Overall, if you use it correctly with the right wood, this is a great little splitter.

Solid built

Nice splitter, works as advertised. It's solid as a rock and should last a lifetime, but I wish I'd gotten the taller one for a few more bucks, as I purchase my wood and it can be a bit random in lengths.
