Easy to use and het up quickly. possibly a little too hot for some so have a cloth handy to wrap them in or keep out of direct skin contact. They stay hot longer in smaller tighter areas (probably less air exposure) such as inside your gloves, but still a bit over 6 hours seems to be the max but thats usually plenty for me. In a loose pocket about 4 hours and in open air less than 2 so put it in something don't let it sit out If it does seem to get too cool pull it out to get more air and it heats back up, but still don't get anywhere near 12 hours. Still well worth the cost and I will gladly recommend them, just remember it's "up to 12 hours" not a sure thing, reliably count on 4 hours, be glad of 6+ which seems normal to me.
