I Love This Item!
Amazon Customer✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 17, 2017
I have been using this tool since I received in August and love it. I have had none of the problems with it that some few have mentioned. I'm short but do find myself bending forward too much and it did cause me some sciatic nerve pain after doing that for close to an hour, but that was my fault. It has been a big help in my garden and around the edges of the yard, patio, front lawn, and sides of the driveway. I can tightly grip some weeds with the blades and rip them out, which I love. This will not cut thicker items, but that is not what it was intended for. One thing I was not happy with was the packaging. It was all in one piece, which is great, but there was nothing wrapped around it and the blades were sticking far out of the box when it arrived. They had made a big hole in it. It should have been packaged safely. It's amazing that there was no damage to it. I would certainly recommend this to others. Mine had no defects or damage. The blade lock works beautifully.
Very helpful

I have a bad back, so these are very handy when I have to do a little work outside.
Jury still out.

Worked only for a few minutes out of the box. However, the upper blade (the one connected to the trigger and pushed by a spring) is excessively pushed to the extent that it angles downward, such that it jams on the other blade and won't actuate. It is easy to see what the problem is. The post that the blade swivels on needs some sort of washer or spacer on the underside of it to keep it from angling. I'm unsure whether it's a design flaw, or poor assembly (missing a part perhaps). Wasn't able to get a washer in there with only my two hands and no good clamping surfaces. Currently awaiting a replacement. Will report back on disposition of replacement.
Does the job if you don't have a lot to trim

This product met my expectations. I was tired of getting covered from head to toe with grass clippings, using an electric edger with nylon line. I don't have much to trim, and this does it. I bought it "with tongue in cheek", since I have a reputation for low carbon footprint machinery. (I also own a manual push mower.) So I showed it off to my neighbors, but it actually does the job for me, and I'm please with it.
I love the swivel, but wish they cut grass.

I immediately noticed that the blades did not meet correctly all along their edges. The result is grass does not get cut. Which is the prime use case. I think. Unless walking around with a landscaping shaped cane is the prime feature. Anyhow, I put some pressure on the blades to unbend the bend that was creating the gap. They are very hard to bend, as they should be, so I'm unclear why they were not straight, and matching up. I was afraid they might snap, or cut me severely (but I did have some leather gloves on). They sort of work, but many times when released, the grass is not cut. Disappointing. I love the swivel. Just wish the damn things cut grass. I expected for the price, and the Fiskars name, that I was getting something quality. But it seems like another plastic gimmick that eventually will end up at the bottom of our oceans or landfill. Man I long for the olden days of steel garden tools that lasted a lifetime, if oiled and cared for.
