Solid construction. The sound dampening is impressive. I can't hear people talking at 6" distance. They are adjustable and the leather or black strap holds the settings good. I haven't try them at the range but I know they will be solid. I used others that were not as dampening and it was good for my ears. These dampen about twice.
The black rim/muffs that create the seal are comfortable and you can expel the air out of them to create a seal.
Great product. Get it.

One for me and the other two go to my little boys who like to hang out in the wood shop with me

I have three of these now. One for me and the other two go to my little boys who like to hang out in the wood shop with me. They fit me and them quite well. The noise reduction is fantastic. I spent 10 years in the Air Force and had to wear double hearing protection with the muffs we received there. I swear if we had these we wouldn't have needed to put the plugs in as well. They really do work that well. For the price and superior build of these you really would do well to just go ahead and hit the buy button already if you are looking for some quality hearing protection.
Not the best solution for quiet study time.

I purchased these earmuffs to hopefully drown out background noise at home so that I can study. I found the earmuffs to be very tight and uncomfortable to wear for any extended amounts of time. The earmuffs lessened the amount of background noise but only those in the distance. Any sounds in the close range were still very much audible. While these earmuffs did help somewhat with lessening the noise for studying, I will need to continue my search for a better option to make my home environment"‹ quiet so that I can study.
Peltor 105 (red and black) ear protectors are my favorite

I bought from amazon the red and black in color, over the head ear protectors (Peltor, 3M, Optime,105) several months ago and am very pleased with them. I have an ear problem in that all sounds are too loud from being around too loud sound (rifle fire in the military), and I need good ear protection. I buy these Peltor 105 three at a time, cause I know they are good, and I don't have to re-order so often. Others I know who have the same problem (all sounds are too loud) also use these Peltor 105's. For one thing, they are very efficient but they are also smaller, and lighter in weight than some of the others. So you don't feel so conspicious or out of place wearing them. I've also noticed that some of the earphones I have which have higher numbers (supposed to keep out more sound), don't have as good a foam rubber fit around the ears as these Peltor 105's. One brand I have, you can put finger down by your ear lobe, and it goes through toward the ear, with no foam rubber blocking it. Meaning sound goes straight through to ear, untouched by the ear pad. But these Peltor 105's don't have that open gap by the ear lobe, and therefore may block out as much sound or more than the bigger sets. I don't consider any other ear protectors when I'm buying. Also, I use Mack's ear plugs with my Peltor 105's when I'm walking my dog and hear a train whistle. I get double protection, with the in the ear, ear plugs, and the over the head Peltor 105's. Mack's ear plugs I find the best, they're like bubble gum, and can be ordered on the net, or see a list of stores that sell them. The combo of those two I found are the best, even better than the electronic headphones, for sound reduction, and once used that combo to ride in my car when my ears were especially bad. Then my ears got use to the sound of the motor, and I got to where I could ride in the car without either of those 2 sound reducers. Thanks Peltor 105's. Thanks Macks ear plugs. Thanks positive thinking column I read which suggested thinking positive prior to trying to solve a problem. Goodbye negative unconscious which was hurting me.
A nice piece of ear protection for a multipurpose usages

A nice piece of ear protection for a multipurpose usages. However, take use with a grain of salt:
Pro:
Great for use around the garage on noisy operation (woodworking, metal grinding, blocking off kids' screaming).
Great value for noise reduction on a budget.
Very comfortable around the ear, creating a good seal.
Fits comfortable around the crown of the head, with good adjustability.
No issue for my wife's, my kids' (5 to 15 years old), nor my own head. My 5 and 8 years old have a hard time with the ear-cuffs/ear-muffs covering over their protective glasses, creating an improper seal. There goes the noise protection.
Con:
No good for gun range. Will not reduce a 9mm, 110 grains, noise down far enough. Will need additional internal inserts to protect your ears.
After 30 minutes in cool environment, you will have sweaty ears. In warm and hot environment, be ready to feel the dripping sweat around the contact points.
