I love these headphones
Surf fishing man✓ Verified Purchase•January 3, 2018
I love these headphones. I own a good number of headphones sony, beats, sure 840s and senheiser 380s. All of which have better sound quality for listening to music then these. So why do I love these headphones so much
I am a college student and use these at the library when I am surrounded by chatty college students and need to listen to something on my computer. they work great for blocking out noise it's like putting on a pair of chainsaw headphones with inexpensive speakers inside of them. They definitely don't have the best sound quality but they work great for listening to podcast or informational videos. I have not found them really enjoyable for listening to music unless I am in a loud environment. They work pretty well for mowing my lawn and listening to music but the sound quality is still good for the price.
The build quality of this product is very high. I have had absolutely no problem with them after owning them for about a year.

Did not work as hoped for

I run heavy equipment, the cord supplied DID NOT fit tightly in my phone to make contact, so I bought another cord, that one worked. Something off on the banana plug? Original cord is way too short, in my opinion. The muffs do reduce the outside noise, however with the volume turned all the way to max, I could barely hear the music. My ear buds worked better volume wise. I realize that these are not some high dollar music ear muffs, but as I mentioned, there is not a lot of volume coming from the speakers. I even tried them while mowing the lawn....again, not impressed. Maybe I received a defective set? However with the plug issue and volume issue I can not give more than 1 star.
Poor battery cover design
Steve✓ Verified Purchase•July 28, 2016
I bought these headphones to replace an old pair with cracked ear pads. I have used these types of radio ear muffs for ten years or so including Stanley and Peltor brands. I tried the Howard Leights because I was hoping for better AM reception and because they had a better hearing protection rating. I bought them 6 mos ago but have only been using them on the job for about 4 mos. Programming stations was easy. Good FM reception, good ear pads, good battery life and a comfortable pad on the head band made it seem like a good buy even with the typically poor AM reception. However the fatal flaw was the very poor design of the cover for the battery. As I said, I've used these types of radio earmuffs for many years and they have all had battery covers that either snapped into place or could be removed using your thumbnail or a coin to turn a retaining tab. The Howard Leight muffs have a cover with a spot marked "push" that must be pressed down while the cover is being slid off. This is supposed to push a metal retainer down far enough to allow the cover to slide off. The retainer seems to hang on the cover instead of releasing it. Super frustrating to have to fight this thing especially when it's 95 degrees. I showed it to others who were thinking about buying different muffs and everyone seemed to think it was a terrible design. Today after only a few battery changes in the four months of use the tab broke and the muffs have gone from frustrating to useless. Buy a different brand.
Good Quality Electronics - Not So Good Muff Adjustment
Amazon_Prime_Customer✓ Verified Purchase•July 23, 2016
Good quality electronic product, however the vertical adjustment of the muffs from the top of the head to the ears does not lend to adjustment for wearing over a hat or for medium to large heads. I also have a 3M Worktunes headset which has a much better vertical muff adjustment and also has a digital voice station identification when changing radio stations.
First off these are comfortable.. can't say enough

Okay , well this is my second one.. Maybe by Honeywell but China made.. My First one worked for about 8 months, for which I used it no more the 6 times.. The problem as listed elsewhere in these reviews is that the IPOD/Audio in is automatically sensed when powered on. Normally without an external audio device plugged in , it goes to radio mode.. But here is what I suspect is happening.. First off these are comfortable.. can't say enough. The controls are flush and either push button or turn for volume; located snug to the headset and so is the curved antenna.. The result; you can wear these with a hoodie of colder days.. You stay warm, and the unit will not be changing channels or dropping volume because the hoodie catches the control.. ALL GOOD.. Battery life is great. But getting back the the issue, noticed that in the summer months on hot days when you sweat the moisture does ever so slightly make its way into the unit; as ; seen as condensation on the channel display. What is happening is the moisture causes the audio in to sense a change in impedance and trigger the circuit on as if you plugged in external audio. Over time is becomes permanent. These units are hard to disassemble to verify, but I am positive this is why they fail.. Not the good part; Honeywell will warranty though Amazon for one year; so it was fully replaced no charge.. We shall see if this one lasts. I have the 2 of the other most popular units, these are okay, they work, but are heavy , not comfortable to ware for a long time and the controls catch on the hoodies.. Given all this I rate them 4 , and for the money if you are after comfort and great easy to use controls.. beats the others hands down.. Ohhh and a big thanks to AMAZON for and easy return/exchange.
