Excellent fit for scoped carbines

I have several long guns, most of which are carbine size with scopes attached. As an expedient, they've been stored in inexpensive soft cases that were available from a LGS. The issue is that those cases are several inches longer than needed. I have a couple of GunMate range bags that have worked well so I thought I'd try a GunMate rifle case. The 40" case turns out to be the right length for all of my scoped lever action, bolt action and semi-auto carbines. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because durability is yet to be determined and because it would nice if the case height was just a bit larger. Meanwhile, I've ordered a couple more of this item

I really like this rifle case. For $25 it is a great buy. Too bad that it is not tall enough for my scoped rifle. If your rifle has a pistol grip, or if you have a high mounted scope with a large objective, tall turret, or illuminated reticle with a large switch up on the ridge of the scope, it is unlikely that this case will be large enough.
Worth it for casual transportation, but not for serious banging around

Got this for my Gamo Swarm .177 cal air rifle, which fits in both length, and height with the scope on. There's very little room to spare, but it fits snugly.
The external material is reasonably tough, but not very thick. Nearly non-existent internal padding. It's very thin, but will protect my rifle so long as I take reasonable care not to excessively bang it around. Good enough for placing the rifle into the trunk of my car and not worrying about it getting scratched or broken.
The zipper is also reasonably tough, and I don't expect to have any issues with it. On the downside, there are no internal, or external pockets.
For the price, I consider this a good buy for anyone except those that will have their rifles truly banged around. If that's the case, you'd be better off purchasing a hard shell case instead of this one.
