This thing is a beast. The length of it ...
kvanger•January 9, 2017
This thing is a beast. The length of it is phenomenal. I just assembled it for 2017's first big storm in my area and used it to clear the snow from the room. Though the neighborhood houses didn't have much snow on its roofs, it seems my house was at the angle that collect a lot of snow. Half of the house had 6-8 inches on it. I own a rancher so I was able to shovel down the majority of the snow on the front side of the house from the ground. This help to relieve the stress on my roof.
Because the extensions are long, it bends when you extend it to the roof. However, it seems the extension rods can hold the weight. Not only that but the benefit is that when it bends, the shovel really digs into the snow allowing itself to move the snow. So, that may be by design.
Will has to wait to see the durability of the item. So far, 5 stars.

Easy to put together
Amazon Customer•December 29, 2016
Took one day to arrive. Easy to put together. The only thing I noticed was the hole drilled through the pole to attach the brace arms should have been drilled at an angle to insure the bolt slide through the brace holes more easily. Now as far as how this product worked..great! You only want to pull about 5 inches of snow at a time but I removed 3 1/2 of snow off a metal roof! Wish I had this before the snow got so deep but none the less I got the job done! Light weight....once you learn how to handle the rake while pulling the snow all will go well.
Works great

This review is under my wife's name since she has the Amazon account. But since I'm the one who uses this roof rake I'll review it. I got this roof rake to get the snow off of a 12x14 metal roof, deck cover with approximate 2/12 pitch. Like others have done, I also replaced all the hardware with stainless steel bolts and hex head locknuts. This roof rake is the perfect alternative to climbing onto the roof with a snow shovel, especially for an old fat guy. I have never used one of these before and, even though there are no usage direction, the concept is pretty simple. Place the rake head on top of the snow layer a couple feet from the eave (lower edge) of the roof. Then just push the pole so that the rake head slides over the top of the snow layer until the rake head reaches the high point you desire on your roof. Then pull on the pole and the snow rakes right off. Even though I replaced the nuts and bolts with stainless, and there were no instructions on how to use this rake, I would still rate this at 5 stars. That's how much I like this thing.
It's all in the technique.

I find this works best when only raking the first 4 to 6 ft of snow (closest to the gutters). Then do the next higher section. You work less as hard and twice as smart. The rake should last a very long time with this method. After I clear the roof, I remove a few of the extensions and clean off my walkway (dragging towards you, away from the house). I used to try to snowblow in that tight area, but this is far less destructive.
Good product for the money BUT......

Well built for average homeowner use. Adjustable length using multiple pole sections very handy. Flexibility or bending of pole fully extended not an issue since you only need to lift it up to put it up on the roof and to take it down when finished. You slide it around on the roof while you are using it. Unlike some others who have purchased it, I did get all the hardware to put it together. HOWEVER, the hole in the plastic sleeve for the bolt that holds the plastic rake to the top pole WAS NOT DRILLED. I had to carefully drill the hole in the plastic sleeve to align with the holes in the pole to bolt them together. Had to be in an exact spot or the support brackets would not align properly when attaching them. Minor detour for me but would be a significant problem for someone who is not able to make this minor factory adjustment. All the bolts have wing nuts instead of nuts with lock washers. It implies that you can put it together with no tools but they were handy to hold tight with pliers when torking them down. They would never stay tight if just hand tightened. BTW.... the box states in bold letters that it was made in the USA.
