No more hesitation. Get these weights!

No B.S. review. I did a lot of research about which type of adjustable weights to buy. I decided on the Bowflex 1090s and have had them almost a year now. I use them at least three times a week with fully body dumbbell workouts. I've dropped 35 lbs in weight, but a lot of that is fat lost while gaining muscle. These weights have been used in all manner of dumbbell exercises without any issue and I have complete confidence in them. My wife likes that these weights along with the rack and folding weight bench all fit neatly in the corner of our garage. Stop guessing and buy these with confidence.
Broke after a few times. Cant get someone to help repair becasue I dont have original receipt.

I received these as a gift (they were bought off Amazon) and used them probably10 times before one of them broke. Its stock on 5lbs and the dials will NOT turn at all so you cannot remove the dumbell bar from the stand with any other weights. I contacted Bowflex and they wouldnt not even speak with me without the original receipt. (Im assuming based on other reviews they receive these types of calls often) . These dumbells are VERY: expensive and need to work for YEARS to offset the cost. Im very disappointed.
Huge design flaw - nothing like the 552

I've had these for about a year bought from Amazon. I also have the lighter 552 set. With the 552s, I've never had a problem with them. However the 1090 have a very important design difference. If you look at my first picture, you will see that the 552 plate has an actual metal tab that the handle locks into to secure the weight. The other two pictures show the molded tabs on the plates of the 1090s. You can see in my year of personal use, that the tabs on these two plates have worn down, and the handle will no longer pick them up. Meaning those plates are useless. I have bought one replacement plate (high cost) already, but now that I have examined the other tabs I see they are wearing down as well. So basically I spent over $600 on dumbbells that are completely unsafe. I did call Bowflex customer service and was told this is part of normal wear and tear.
Do NOT, I repeat do NOT but these dumbbells, even if you are impressed with the 552s. Total was of money.
... can't bring your hands in as close as you'd like when doing chest

This thing is a little wide so when you have two you can't bring your hands in as close as you'd like when doing chest . But that's no reason to shoot down the stellar quality of this product or convenience of an all in one dumbbell ... it starts off at 10 lbs and works it's way up to 90ish lbs ... it is pricy yes especially just for one , but if fitness is something that you'll always be into and you are going to use these daily , then it'll save you money in the long run and time when compared to a gym membership.
These dumbbells are great and take up little room in my workout space!

I have had 2 of these adjustable dumbbells since January of 2014, which I purchased from Amazon. I have used them regularly for the past 3 years with no problems at all. I have the Bowflex stand, and would strongly recommend using one of these with the dumbbells. It keeps them at a good height and makes it easy to adjust and remove/replace dumbbells.
They are easy to change weights and although they are pretty wide, it doesn't take long to get used to that.
The grips are a bit rough, but I like having a little 'roughness' on my palms. (One of the small benefits of lifting...) Weightlifting gloves can be worn if your hands are sensitive.
The shape of the grip is a bit oval, and I would not recommend them if you have small hands. The lighter version of these might be better in this case.
The best thing about these, is that they replace MANY dumbbells and take up very little space.
