Works well enough. However, I filed 3-flats on the shaft to stop the thing slipping in the drill chuck. I'm pretty strong, but even tightening it hard, the round shaft would slip after a few holes. Now it's fine.
The manufacturer might think of adding that extra process to make it very good.

Does exactly what it was meant to do. Very handy for planting bulbs. I purchased this to plant a few dozen seedling trees. Using this auger and a rechargeable drill made the job go very fast.
Worth mentioning; this auger is very small take this into consideration when ordering. get the right size for whatever job you have in mind. It was just right for my use. A larger one may be useful for a wider range of uses.

There is no square end at the base of the auger, so you really have to tighten it down in the chuck or it will start spinning, especially if using the new battery-operated hand-tightening drill chucks. The length includes the shaft so subtract about an inch if that's how deep you put it in the chuck and expect your drill to get dirty if you are planting tulips deep. Otherwise it was well made and I expect to have it for years. I bought it because it was inexpensive compared to other augers. It DOES DO the job, but if you have the money to spend get one with a longer shaft so you don't have to clean out your chuck after using it.
Works great for intended purpose. NOT intended to penetrate thick clay soil or rock hard, bone dry dirt.

Planted 500 bulbs in 6 hours thanks to this auger. Worked great with cheap power drill. However, my soil was loose because I'd built up the bed and slightly wet due to recent light rain. When I hit a buried tree root, the bit spun in my drill chuck, but that's OK: the last thing I want is to have the drill ripped out of my hands. On my drill, I could set the clutch so it released when I hit a root but the auger would pull the soil out up to 8 inches. Read the instructions, and pull the auger up every couple of inches to clear the soil from the hole.

As others have commented, it does come loose at times. For the money however, it worked great for my needs. 90 bulbs in under an hour. The longer one may save your back, as this one is quite short, but I saw that in the description when I purchased...Wish I got the super long one now!
