Decent machine

This thing works pretty well. Very decent power. Gets pretty rowdy when it grabs a root. 4 stars because it's a bit of a chore to start. But overall recommend.
One Star

Not sure how people can give this a good review. It's poorly made and broke right away. Spark plug boot is poor design and transmission burnt up after 8 holes and now can't dig 1 inch deep. Some mad and sad they won't replace it. Now have to fix myself.
Ever see the movie "Christine" where a car comes to life and turns evil?

The good: powerful motor, good quality augers, heavy duty hardware, gas/oil mixing bottle, tool kit and spare gasket included. Nice kit.
The bad:
(1) The engine shutoff switch is faulty. It worked the first few times I shut off the engine, but while digging the first few holes it failed and I had to cycle the switch off and on many, many times to get it to shut off the engine. (See below)
(2) Midway through the first hole, the auger kept spinning when the engine was at idle.
(3) Midway through the second hole, the gas cap loosened and sprayed us with gas. It was tight, but worked itself loose from vibration. It needs a better gasket to make a good friction fit.
Funny now, but at the time it was bad: on the third hole (of it's first use) we hit a very big rock several feet down. The handles twisted out of our grip and my friend fell on top of the unit. SInce the auger was stuck and it didn't stop spinning at idle, the engine spun around and the handles repeatedly punched my friend in the side until he was able to roll off it. It kept spinning with the throttle at idle and the engine switch in the off position! It took us a while to force it to stop spinning and to cycle the engine-switch back and forth enough to shut it off.
We dug the last hole by hand.

Good post hole digger"¦.works well"¦"¦good price. Poor customer service.
The manual is poor, no phone number to call if you have any questions. No information on what oil or grease to use .The manual is junk.
If you ever have any problems with the unit , you will need to fix it yourself.
If they would re-do the manual they would have a good product.
