This Power Auger works! It took 6 pumps on the primer bulb and it fired right up. I let it warm up for 10 minutes. More for a run in time than to actually warm up. I really expected the auger bits to fail but I hit rocks big enough to stop it and there was no damage whatsoever to the machine or the bits. I bored the first 20 holes ( Medium bit) to max depth without the extensions in 16 minutes ( yes I timed it ), and that's encountering rocks. The machine didn't even need full throttle to accomplish the digging. This machine is worth the money!

So far this post hole digger has worked like a dream. My husband has built a pole barn style shed and used it to dig holes to plant a dozen large Arborvitaes and other shrubs. The different size bits come in handy and it goes through our hard clay soil with ease. We looked at renting and it would have been the same cost as it was to buy this one. Well worth the investment already.

Works well.. Engine is strong enough to power the 12" auger. Takes a few pulls to get it started.. but once it does it runs.. mean little engine!.. Engine mix ratio is 25:1.. so a bit old school and smoky.. but not bad..
This comes with everything.. The only thing that could be better is the angle and location of the pull starter .. kinda awkward.. and would be nice to have some kind of anti kick when it hits a root!..

I've got tough clay soil. So, i figured I would take a chance on this larger 72cc import earth auger. I am happy to report the following... it shipped fast. Easy assembly. Gas & oil mixing bottle included (Mix 25:1). Starts easily. Drilled 15 holes for my new red tipped photinias in just about an hour. Plenty of power to turn that big 12" auger down deep into my clay mixed soil. The noise was no more than my gas powered weedeater or chainsaw. Kicking myself for not ditching the shovel and post hole digger sooner; and getting one of these to dig holes for my trees, posts and future flagpole. I know I sound like a paid sponsor, but I hate-hate-hate buyers remor$e. The only thing that would have made the package better would be the addition of an auger relief spring to reduce jarring when you hit large rocks. But I can buy one of those separately to accommodate all the augers included in this package. . This 72cc big boy does the job with ease. Happy buyer.

Update 7- 7-2022: More of an FYI. I went out today to take a few pictures for the review and noticed gas leaking from the carburetor primer bulb region. When I loosened the gas cap a significant amount of pressurized vapor was released and the leak stopped. The unit is stored inside a barn. However, morning sunshine on the tank with an ambient temperature is a 102° today in the shade didn't help. Maybe a pressure relief gas cap would be beneficial on this unit. No reflection on quality of the product though. Still very happy with this purchase. Check out the images, drill on my friends.

(Update 1 year later: 9-2-23)
*It seems to flood out easily and frequently now. Even after warm up. Very irritating. I think the gas cap may be the culprit by allowing gas pressure to build up and flood the carb.
*Boggs down easily with the 12" auger in heavy clay soils once drilling beyond a 30" depth. Dirt has been no problem.
*Forget drilling any deeper than 30" with the 12" auger in heavy clay soil. Not enough horsepower to accomplish this once at this depth.
*A coil relief spring for each auger is much needed. It's scary and painful when you hit a fist size rock. Once the unit spun out of my grip after hitting a rock and I like to never got control of it and stop it from free spinning. Taking off one star for this.
*Still a good buy though.
