Good Machine for Small Augers
Alex✓ Verified Purchase•January 25, 2024
Bought this machine since it came the 4 different auger sizes. Also had the 63cc power unit which I thought would be helpful digging in the hard clay I have. Setup was pretty basic and unit fired right up. Note to those who don't read instructions, you must fill the gearbox with gear oil before use. I used the smaller augers first to get a feel for the unit. It dug down with no problem with hardly any power used. The larger augers worked just fine but if you hit any kind of hard soil, be prepared for the machine to twist very hard.
It would have been a 5 star machine except the size of the handles is too small to easily have two people hold. You basically end up bumping heads while trying to hold the unit in place Also the fill hole for the gear oil is very small, about 1/4". I would recommend using a large syringe or something similar as the gear oil wants to just sit in the fill hole due to its viscosity.
Summary: Cheaper than renting a machine and more than powerful enough, just don't expect to dig any giant sized holes easily.

Plenty of power to dig holes!

Once I got the hang of this, it worked great. Although at first I did have to do a little bit of wrenching on it...
When I first started using it, after about 10 minutes the auger would stop as soon as any downward pressure was applied (which is mainly it's own weight, you don't really need to press down). This was frustrating and I thought I might have a dud. I needed it to work to be able to dig the 36" deep 12" wide holes for my footers however. So, I decided to take it partially apart to see if I could find the culprit. The gears were completely fine, but the centrifugal clutch seemed to be loose from the shaft.
What is supposed to happen: The spinning shaft is connected to a centrifugal clutch (see picture), which has springs that upon centrifugal force push against a cylindrical housing that is connected to the gears that turn the auger. However, the clutch could move independently of the shaft, so it needed tightening. The drawstring housing just unscrews to give you access to the other side of the shaft (you'll need a socket on one end and allen wrench on the other). It may sound complicated, but it's only a handful of screws and then you're right there.
After tightening that, this thing worked awesome. I dug 13 holes, 3ft deep by 12" wide.
I read several reviews about the drawstring breaking, so I was very gentle with it and had no issues.
I would recommend using the smaller auger (6") first and then the bigger(12"), just to give you a pilot hole to center on. Maybe if you have two people that wouldn't be an issue, but I did not and it has a lot of snort. I found I was able to dig down 8-10 inches at a time and then would need to lift it up to knock off the mud/clay. This probably would depend on your soil though.
Also, it comes with a small plastic container for mixing the oil and gas. It isn't anything great, but it gets the job done very easily.
All in all, I really like the auger. It cost slightly more than it would have been to rent one for a couple days. Now I'm ready to go for my fence rebuild next year.

Love my new auger and attachments!

Arrived in two different deliveries, the augers then the top motor drive. Works great and I only wish they had figured a reverse button which would be great when you need to back out. That's my only issue. If you want a tough machine that starts very easily and you can dig holes so fast, then this machine is for you. You won't regret it!
Poor trigger quality
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•December 19, 2023
It did great for the first 10 holes, but then is trigger completely broke. It is complete unsafe to use. Since the trigger broke it will just now spin when I hit a rock. I am unsure how to get a warranty or return on this product. I would recommend an Auger where the trigger is more built into the handle.
Update (10/23/23). Even though it was past the 30-day return policy. The vendor did ship out a new trigger, which seems to be a more solid plastic. Going to get that attached by next spring for planting trees. Changed to 4 stars for responsiveness and working with my to get a new trigger. Thank you

Have only done 8/40 of 42" deep x 12" wide post holes. Soil is damp compact clay. Machine gets me about 36" down before it bogs down then I switch to 10" bit and it gets me the rest of the way more or less. The 10" bit cuts like butter. So it does what it's supposed to. Pull cord has already broke but I was able to fix it. Now on/off switch won't work. I have to use choke to shut the machine off. Maybe I can fix that too. I think this auger was worth the money spent. I don't understand the manual as there is no where to add lubricant to gear case. I will need to ask seller. Don't hesitate to buy if you are concerned. I can deal with the little issues as long as it does what it's supposed to do.
