Great System but Keep an Eye Out when Hood is Open-low retaining wall. Tape the holes in the wheel floor to prevent injury.
M. Piep.•February 7, 2018
I really liked (and still do) the Habitrail Studio setup, but BEWARE even the little Hamsters can climb or hop out when the sliding door is open. While this makes for easy access for cleaning and petting, (my Hamster likes a finger massage while walking on the wheel) My other more shy new hamster climbed out unnoticed and is loose somewhere in the house. I leave food and water out for it. I thought I was vigilant and keeping tight with door. Make sure it is latched because it can ride up. I will make a thin cardboard insert to raise the wall.
The other problem is with the accompanying running wheel. It has large holes in the floor surface of the wheel, where the Hamsters feet would fall through. I ran a length of electric tape on the inside and outside of the wheel, covering the holes, and now the Hamster likes the wheel, where as before it didn't. Otherwise this unit is attractive and secure with the locking connectors. It also interfaces with the Critter Trails system. Some people complained that the sandbox/foodbox is too difficult to access with wheel in the way. I just don't use the box behind the wheel. The wheel being where it is makes for a convenient pet-bonding area. But unless you have extensive other habitats, this is for the smaller creatures. My Hamster likes to hang in the accompanying mini maze pod. An added note: I found the wayward Hamster a week after posting most of this review. Scooped it up back into it's home. It's doing fine. WATCH THOSE DOORS!

Dwarf Hamsters May Not Climb the Arch, Water Bottle Might Leak
Freddy The Frog •January 26, 2018
At this point, I own every Habitrail Habitat, from the OVO Hamster Loft to the Dwarf Habitat.
This Habitrail OVO Studio is a very nice extension to my Habitrail Village and I'm including a video review for your viewing pleasure.
The instructions are very easy to follow and parts go together neatly with a functional design being the final result.
IF you have dwarf hamsters, they may have problems getting up the large diameter tubes that lead to the upper loft area, so, for those tiny balls of living cotton, I suggest connecting your arch to the back of the included junctions instead of the top, that way they can handle the tubes without sliding back down. What you end up with is a horizontal loop with a hiding pod.
The water bottle is nice, but I feel that Habitrail needs a re-design there, as the bottle is apt to drip and leak which will form a puddle beneath it. The old-fashioned tube drinkers with ball bearings in them are still better.
If you are concerned about the number of square inches on the floor of your habitat, this is around 132.73 square inches, so you'll want to add it to another habitat in order to provide more running around space.
The exercise wheel is just over 7 inches in diameter, some Syrian hamsters may require something even larger, but we keep dwarfs, so that's not an issue for our pets.
Every part of the habitat is accessible and easy to clean. The dome opens from the from the front to play with your pet, or the back to access the feeding tray and hide.
The exercise wheel is nice and quiet once you have lubricated the axle with olive oil or something similar which cannot harm your pet.
ESCAPE! The manufacturer has labeled this habitat "Escape Proof" and I must agree. There really is no place for your hamster to escape, it doesn't have metal bars to squeeze through, everything is nicely rounded to limit chewing, the connectors are well designed and hold tubes and fittings securely. Unless someone leaves something unlatched, you can be confident that your pet isn't getting out.
Side-Note- provide plenty of chewing materials for your pet to grind its teeth on and expand the system to prevent boredom.
My opinion is that this should not be a stand-alone hamster cage/habitat, but may be fine for a mouse? Hamsters are going to want to travel.
Great cage, easy assembly, aesthetically pleasing, I definitely recommend the OVO Studio as part of your habitat system!
At the end of the video review, this habitat is connected to the Habitrail Cristal Habitat which is also available here on Amazon.

I flipping love this hamster cage
Courtney Fox•November 29, 2017
I flipping love this hamster cage! Instead of the loud bars they are always chewing on in the middle of the night, the ovo has breathing holes (though your hamster may eventually figure out that it can put their teeth in the holes and bite that way)! The one thing I do not like about it are the round tube clasps that hold the tubes together. They slip a lot and are sometimes really hard to turn and tighten to keep the tubes together. Also, it might just be my hamster and the fact that California is humid, but it gets SUPER humid in one of her little nesting homes, so much so that water droplets form... it's weird. Other than that, this cage is amazing!! It's so fun and colorful and my hamster loves it!
Great Hamster Cage Extension!
Michele•November 1, 2017
This cage is too small on its own. PLEASE do not buy this cage if you intend to keep your hamster in it as the entire enclosure. Hamsters need a minimum of 450 square inches of uninterrupted floor space. So get this to attach to a 110 quart bin cage or larger, a 40 gallon breeder aquarium or larger, an Ikea Detolf or Billy, or some other larger enclosure.
Size aside, this cage is lovely. Fairly easy to assemble, I LOVE the locking connector rings, and the fun colours are amazing. I have both this and the Ovo Habitrail Dwarf Hamster Habitat, and they connect just fine. They look amazing with any set up and, while more expensive than competitor brands, seem to be built better and look nicer. I love this cage and your hamster will too, long as you provide them with enough room. Please be advised though, the size of these tubes are NOT for dwarf hamsters. They're made for Syrians, and at vertical angles a dwarf hamster won't be able to move through them. So be aware before purchasing.

Perfect for Hammy! And fun for us too!

This is perfect for a teddy bear hamster. Our Hammy the Hammer loves running through the tunnels. It is a fun puzzle too to change up the configuration with some of the add ons you can get. We got the loft and adventure pack too.
