Are all hamster products junk?
Gwen KubecNovember 17, 2017
Assembly was infuriating, instructions were horrible. After about an hour and a half of wrestling with it, I realized there is no way this can be a suitable habitat for our hamster. The "water bottle" leaks and knocks the whole thing off balance, the slightest knock makes the tubes disconnect, and I'm terrified that when I open that huge door our little friend is going to jump out. I'd return it but the thought of taking it apart gives me anxiety so I'll probably just take it to the dumpster. The only plus is that none of the plastic pieces broke during assembly, which did happen with cage attempt one from Kaytee.
The pictures don't do this justice-it's adorable! It's the perfect size for a dwarf hamster

The pictures don't do this justice-it's adorable! It's the perfect size for a dwarf hamster. I had to make mine completely horizontal though because my hamster doesn't climb. Luckily, you have the versatility to do so. The only thing you have to remain conscience of is that the lids are actually locked and the rings are locked as well. Otherwise, it will pop open.
Great quality purchase! Please add divider options to the connection rings!

Very happy with this habitat! The plastic material is sturdy, the connecting rings are secure and very easy to use, and the travel pod is VERY handy! My only complaint is the delivered package had one too many elbows and missed a couple of other pieces instead, but we worked around it. Also the water reservoir keeps leaking no matter what I try to create a vacuum. One thing the Habitrail habitats should add to their design is sliding dividers in the connecting rings (I believe Crittertrail has these)- they make it MUCH easier to block off sections when you're cleaning or trying to catch your hamster.
Cool but unreliable.

This cage is very cool looking and functional, but it's a lot harder to put together then you would think. I also don't think they're connecting locks are as good as they claim they are.

Update: after having this thing fall apart all the time I decided to just use my glue gun and seal all the connectors so they don't fall apart anymore.

Very, very creative! I was thinking of dropping a star but it takes practice to be able to get the hamster in the "transport" area so i'll leave it. I guess you can move the stuff around but my hamster is extremely jumpy so i gotta take exra caution and kind of cover the area so he stops. And the water dispenser isn't the most practical thing!
