Updated 310 Meter

The Triplett 310 has for over 50 years been a good choice for those that need a compact analog VOM. The current model (type 7) uses a readily available (and cheap) 12 volt battery for the highest resistance measurement range, rather than the hard to find (and expensive) 15 volt battery used by previous versions of this meter. (see my review for the 15v battery)

Actually, this meter will (unlike a digital multimeter) make most measurements with no battery at all, batteries are only needed for the resistance ranges. (and they ARE included)

This is a well made, high quality meter!
meter is a good one

I tries this meter out today and I was pleased with it's accuracy and performance. The only
thing I dislike is the way the meter leads attach half way up. I didn't think it would be a problem
but it does make it slightly awkward sometimes to make measurements. One other thing I was not prepared for is
that the polarity switch does not function on resistance measurements. I like to switch polarity when checking motor run and start capacitors. Good for DC measurements ,though.
For its size and features it's a great addition to the tool pouch

It's small, very well made, and very accurate. It works well for troubleshooting audio and telecom lines, which is my primary use. These meters have been around forever, I lost my last one in a flood, it was 20 years old and still worked as well as the day I took it out of the box.
Analog meters are great for finding noise and short signal transients that digital meters just show as a bunch of constantly changing readings. The analog meter movement shows patterns in the signal and the small size of this meter makes it easy to carry with you in your go everywhere tool pouch.
Damm good product but....

My only issue is that it does not operate on standard size batteries ( it requires (1) 1.5V and (1) 12V mini battery (which are included)) for operation. Otherwise it is perfect for counting electrical pulses necessary in automotive and electronic troubleshooting that a digital meter will not provide. My only issue the the uncommon battery size - too bad they cannot make a 9V or some AAA's to work for this product or else I would give it a 5 star rating.
Very accurate and dependable

I used one of these as a technician with the phone company. Haven't needed one since I retired, but now that I do, this is the one I wanted.
