Our cage had many manufactured defects
Danielle DeVincent✓ Verified Purchase•February 15, 2018
I was really excited about getting this cage for my 2 ferrets. After reading all the great reviews, I assumed this cage would live up to hype (and cost!). But unfortunately, this cage has numerous problems.
For one, it took both my husband and I, 2 hours to assemble! I've assembled similar cages BY MYSELF in half that time. Aside from the poor instructions, the male to female sections of the cage were warped and wouldn't fit flush. I don't know if it's because it got knocked around during shipping, or if that's how it was manufactured, but these parts of the cage (where the side panels fit together) bent, added a lot of aggravation to the building process. We had to go in with pliers to fix it so it would fit together.
Once we got it all assembled, we noticed the doors were not aligned evenly. This makes shutting and locking the door difficult because I have to push it in to get the locking bar to align with the hole it slides into.
Another issue we noticed was that the hook that's used to hold up the bottom ramp (so you can block access to the ferrets from coming down) doesn't work either. The hook isn't long enough to catch the bottom of the ramp, so it's pretty much useless.
The whole process was a huge headache, and to top it off, the cage is defective in many areas.
For the amount they charge, I expected something better.
I know there are many happy customers here, but you may end up like us, getting a cage that wasn't manufactured properly.

Nice cage, but be warned!

While the cage is very nice, the assembly was exhausting. It obviously must have been dropped at some point. Certain parts are welded sloppily so other parts won't fit unless you take a hammer to it which knocks off the coating on the bars. The very top part of the cage is slightly bent so it never sits flush. And the doors are off by about half an inch of each other, and the middle tray is warped so it doesn't sit flush. Like i said the cage is nice but the manufacturing was poorly done and the imperfections are more obvious than they should be.
Update 1/24/2018
After having the cage for almost half a year, we ran into a big issue that arises with the middle platforms. We have two dumbo rats on the cage since we bought it. There have been several occasions where we have come home to see the middle platform had separated and fallen inside the cage. For small animals that can be a death sentence. Once again it is a very nice cage but be warned that there a few little things wrong with the cage and several that can spell disaster for your pets

Very Convient Cage for Chinchillas!
switzofsky✓ Verified Purchase•June 13, 2017
This is a wonderful set up for our two chinchillas that we have to keep separated! The ramp that connects the top and bottom sections can be hooked up to keep the sections separated. For chinchillas, be sure to put the fleece ramp covers on the ramps as the grates are unsafe for them and they could get their feet stuck in between the grates. For those of you worried that the chinchillas would eat the fleece they won't. If you're really that worried however, chinchillas could definitely jump up onto the shelves without the ramps.
The cage has plenty of spaces to hang extra ledges for climbing, toys, wheels, etc. for your furry friends. The shelves can even be moved if you need more space for specific items.
The shelf on the bottom is very convienent for your pet supplies. We even put a container on the top of the cage for extra storage!
The doors on the cage are super nice as you can completely open up the front of the cage for easy access to clean. You can remove the trays by doing so making cleaning a much simpler process. The latches are pull togethers so you don't have to worry about your furry friends escaping.
To contain the mess I highly recommend buying the scatter guards for chinchillas especially. It keeps them from kicking their bedding out of the cage at night. We also put a tarp around the back and sides of the cage to protect our walls from any other messes the chinchillas may create.
I did take one star off because the cage did have a couple missalignments that we had to fix while assembling. It was nothing a hammer couldn't fix though. The packaging other than that was great! Nothing came damaged or opened or anything like that when it arrived at our doorstep. The instructions were fairly easy to follow in my opinion. It took us less than an hour to put the whole cage together.

two cages are great!!

Love this cage for our two ferrets. The top cage can be separated from the bottom cage. Great for keep ferrets separate when introducing them. Assembly was little tricky as some of the metal parts did not connect well and my husband had to use a mallet and a flat head screw driver to make them fit. But once we got it together its been great! The wheels move nicely and it can go from room to room easily. The doors latch shut great and our 3 year old has not figured out how to open it. Thats a plus!
Tools Highly Necessary
Colby M.✓ Verified Purchase•March 25, 2017
As I write this I am taking a break from bending parts into the shapes necessary for this product to be assembled correctly. The pegs that hold the cage together have been inserted at angles, rendering the entire product unusable until you finish the job the factory started and straighten the metal out with a vise.
Completely unacceptable. When I purchase a product that says "No tools necessary" I should not have to take it into my garage to create the product advertised. For all the trouble this cage has been, I may as well have sketched my own plans and purchased the tubing myself for half the price. I would ask for a refund, but for me to return it in the condition it arrived in, I would have to break it.
Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a product.
Was going through my reviews and noticed I forgot to add to this one. The bottom shelf falls out constantly. I have two ferrets, and one likes to sleep underneath the bottom shelf. Very frequently, and requiring only the weight of one ferret, this shelf will fall. I am sure you can understand my displeasure here, as I'd feel very bad if the cage I got my ferrets ended up falling apart and bonking one on the head. I have hooked this shelf to the side with zip ties, to prevent any future injuries. They are not within reach of my ferrets, for those who will worry about that.
This is not a problem with the top shelf. In fact, the top shelf holds two ferrets wrestling just fine, and has since purchase. Switching the shelves results in what you'd expect. Same shelf, same problem, different level.
I am not sure if I got a lemon. Other people here claim to have had a great experience with their cage. What I do know, is this particular cage has been a hassle for me for way longer after assembly than it should have been.
