Works well, but the leads are fragile. This is OK if you keep it in a comfortable home and test batteries, but it won't survive a rough environment. It didn't survive my daughter's science demonstration.

Seems to be accurate, when compared with my other, far more expensive rig. Can't beat it for the price.

This is a simple voltage meter that has pereformed flawless, I have had the opportunity to use this quite a bit and it performs just as good as my more expensive brand. It even comes with a battery! No need to spend booku bucks on a name brand unit when this performs as well as it does. Granted it is not as full featured as the more expensive units, but for what your paying for it does it's job well and has been quite accurate. I am reducing my vote by one star because the cords have to be pushed in very good for complete contact, and they fit a little loose.

Great for the price. I use it for home use -- this is not something I would recommend if you are a professional electrician, but for DIY's it worked well for me. I checked calibration by testing brand new DC 9v batteries, and tested it in my AC electrical outlets in my home -- and the readings were close enough. It is also great for testing continuity. Haven't used it for much else. I don't use mine very often, so I remove the batteries between uses (my last one got damaged from battery leakage) and keep them in a zip lock bag in my toolbox. I also purchased a circuit tester, which comes in handy for small electrical DIY work :Extech ET25 Neon Voltage Tester.

I needed a volt and ohm meter to carry to clients that would be good enough to be useful and not make me cry if it broke or got forgotten/lost. This DT830B digital multimeter meets that need perfectly. I don't need to use a meter very often, but when I need it I really need it.

The LCD is large enough my aging eyes can read it well without glasses. The large dial covers every range I'll ever need for both DC and AC. Construction seems sturdy and the leads pretty well made. Sturdy enough for reasonable knocks and falls.

In checking AC voltage (is that outlet providing good output?), DC (is that 5V feed really providing 5V?) and resistance (is that capacitor shorted or resistor open?) it seems accurate enough. I used a friends Fluke 113 meter as the standard.

At about 5% of the price of the Fluke 113 I think the DT830B is a great value that gives me what I need for my infrequent need for a multimeter. That makes it a great value to me and wins it 5 stars,.
