Adjustment at bulb housing does not hold lamp in position satifactorily.

As we get older, our close-up vision is not what it used to be. This solves a lot of problems, especially working on small stuff like circuit boards. You can really get close with this lamp. I would recommend this lamp for any type of lab or bench work where you need to see all the details of what you are working on. Good for quality control functions. If you need a "heavier" unit, Luxo makes them too. This particular lamp housing is constructed of plastic, and therefore costs less. Also, this lamp uses a "starter" that means that the lamp is not instant on, and takes a few seconds before the lamp actually lights up. More expensive Luxo lamps do not need a starter. If the starter ever fails, it is easily replaced without any tools - It is accessible from the exterior of the lamp housing.
