Works better than the inexpensive OBD2 scanner I tried

After trying a much less expensive OBD2 scanner and having absolutely no luck, I decided to give this one a go. I connected it to my 2012 Ford vehicle. Using a laptop running Windows 7, a Bluetooth connection, and the popular Forscan diagnostic application, I was able to scan my vehicle for diagnostic information, and to run a couple of corrective procedures (battery monitor reset, rear camera calibration). So I can report that this is a good OBD2 scanner for Ford vehicles, when using a Windows laptop with a Bluetooth connection. Of course, your mileage may vary. If you try it and it doesn't work, Amazon at least makes returns very easy. This is the second OBD2 scanner I've tried, and I'm keeping this one.

Delivery fast within 12 hours. Plugged it in my 2003 Chevy 2500 using Torque Pro. Synced up work like a charm. Plugged it in my 2006 Chevy 2500, 2013 Suburban and 2015 GMC Denali. Guess what it worked with no problem. Spend a little bit extra money and you get something that works 100% as advertised. Will now buy one father-in-law. My friends saw it in action in their vehicle, it was like I'm some sort of wizard doing magic to them. Was able to troubleshoot my friend's car. Knew where the problem was and fixed it so he can pass smog without getting ripped off at the mechanic shop. My friend is ordering one now too.

I had a cheap $20 one that I uses with a 3rd party app. Not sure if it was working so I went to look for one that worked with the app. I was pointed to this scantool and glad I bought it. I use both scantools the cheap one to look at more detail and use the program that came with this one to back up the data. I like the option that tells you if your car is test ready. I was having problems passing smog test and I couldn't tell with the $20 scantool if the parts I was replacing was working or not but with this one it straight up tells you test ready. I'm not the best at working with cars so I was really happy for that option. So as soon as it came out with the test ready I took it in and it passed. Very happy.

This unit benefits from the bluetooth wireless protocol which allows handsfree data transfers to a bluetooth device such as a PC or your smartphone.
However since I was looking for realtime datalogging which requires no dropped connections, this unit was not up to snuff. It is very frustrating to be datalogging and have the connection interrupted by bad signal etc. I am going to order the OBDLINK SX USB version to ensure datalogging connection stability.

Bought this on a black friday sale and love it. I have used to to read/erase trouble codes on OBD2 vehicles. I have used many scanners before but the extended support with this one is fantastic. My wife drives a Ford 500 and it had an error code. This scanner not only read the code but gave every parameter of the engine and car the instant the code was thrown. I could see what the coolant temp was, the O2 sensor readings were, the rpm's, the throttle position, the vehicle speed, etc. when the check engine light was triggered. VERY handy when trying to diagnose what caused the problem to begin with!
