Beast!
LoneStar•November 15, 2017
This thing is a beast. Dug 10 holes out of the box in about 30 minutes with 10" blade. Starts easy. Does bog down a bit in thick clay but learned to take small up/down bites to get thru it. That's the part that wears you out! Not sure I'd call it a one-man auger. It really takes two people, especially if you buy the 18" extension. I am 6 foot tall and motor is chin level on me with the 18" extension. Found it helped to tap a small pilot hole with a post hole digger first. I would recommend this machine after 1 day of use. Will repost an update if things change after day 2.
Nice tool, seems pretty powerful.

husband likes this, it digs well in dirt but rocks have to be chiseled and unfortunately for us, NM is full of rocks. But he does like it.
Okay so far

This started up first pull no problem. It has kept starting easily after the first week. It does not like small roots and rocks. But you can rev it and getting to bust through some. I think a lot depends on the operator, if you hit a root or rock you have to remove it manually. But with a bit of work and finesse it will get through most of what we had without manual intervention. I was using a 10 inch auger with an 18" extension. So when it caught up it was pretty controllable.
Works great

Easy to assemble, started right up and works as it should. Lighter than expected which is a good thing
it might work better with two operators

My experience with the auger is this.....from day one it starts hard and needs constant choking until warmed up, it is not getting sufficient fuel. In dry ground the 6" bit does not dig well, it just "treads water" and won't penetrate. I can't understand why. I am using it by myself so it is a little hard to handle and apply pressure, it might work better with two operators. If the ground is damp it digs just fine. Once warmed up it starts great.
