where can I get a non-express PCI USB 3.0 expansion card?
NewoneoneApril 21, 2018
seems to work but I had to remove my graphics card from my system because I only have one pci express port and no spare PCI express ports in order to use this

realized after I tried installing it that I need it to be a PCI non-express expansion card. so I got the wrong thing and need a PCI non-express card instead. Where can I get one?
Disappointed

I was very disappointed in this product, had hoped to add USB 3 capability to my computer but I could not get it working and when it was in the PCI Express Slot it overrode all the other USB's I have on board, so they wouldn't work either. I wish engineers paid a little more attention to details and put out good products. I ended up just throwing the product away. It was a total waste of money.
Great USB3.0 expansion card - Just be sure to hook up the power!

I needed to get USB 3.0 support on my main home PC/workstation, the motherboard only had USB2 ports. I really only needed the internal USB3.0 port, to pair with a SD card reader & USB3.0 port front bay expansion panel. So the 2 external ports were just a welcome bonus. No complaints whatsoever about the card, it came with everything I needed. One thing to note however - if you are using the internal USB3.0 port, you also have to connect the internal power port on the card (4-pin Molex connector). This isn't spelled out well in either the product description or in the supplied documentation. I actually thought I had received a faulty card until I ran across that information on another web site. Once I did that, though, it worked like a charm. Superb upgrade for a USB2.0-ony mobo!
Great upgrade for an older motherboard without the expense.

Works surprisingly well, considering it's fairly inexpensive and such a great upgrade.

I was a little worried at first when Win7 could not find a driver for it. I'm rather spoiled with plug-n-play devices, so when it did not automatically install I had to figure it out (there are no step-by-step instructions). Insert the mini-dvd and find the "USB 3.0" files on it, then drill down to the setup files, and suddenly it was installed and working. I also ordered a few Samsung USB 3.0 dongles and everything tested out fine.

I had no idea you could add 3.0 without buying a new motherboard, so thank you "How to Geeks" for the info. I found out about all this when I needed to reinstall Win7 (I had upgraded to Win10 but found I preferred Win7) and the Geek website showed how to make a bootable USB with ISO files (free from Microsoft if you already have purchased Win7) that already have most of the updates included. And of course they said to do it with USB 3.0, which is why I bought this.
Garbage and a waste of money, no go with Windows 7 (64) or FreeBSD

Garbage and a waste of money. I tried it with and without the power connected in 3 different slots. Each time, Windows 7 (64) sees the card but can't find drivers for it with Windows Update. Using the Drivers Disc that came with it is useless, Windows 7 (64) says there are no compatible drivers. Tried it in a friends FreeNAS (FreeBSD) server and it was not recognized. Unfortunately, I waited too long to try it and can't return it.
