Although I haven't gotten a chance to really stress test this device to see how it dissipates heat. I think the aluminum will help a little bit to keep a drive cool when being actively used.
For the average user, you won't have to worry about this. For the advanced user, you might need to worry if you're using this for DB storage.

Works good. The reviews I saw warned of the screws possibly being an issue. I had no trouble at all. My main concern was the all metal casing. The good thing about that is it has an on off switch which allows me to shut it down when not in use. I bought this to house a 2 TB hard drive whose casing was damaged whenever I moved. It is the hard drive I have movies, music and TV shows on for streaming off my Roku box. Since it is in the bedroom it does not have to be on all the time. But so far so good!!

True plug n play. No issues at all. Worked perfectly on both my hard drives. I was getting 3.0 speeds of 60 Mb/s to 120 Mb/s, keeping in mind the more smaller files u transfer at once the slower the speeds. A large vid file copied at 115 Mb/s while 120 gb of music files was closer to 60 mb/s. Either way 3.0 is well worth it esp when u can get this product for under $20!! Best value on Amazon.

The box came with everything I needed, including a small screwdriver to put it together. The fit is good and everything seems to work. The only problem I have is the hard drive I put into it seems to have a problem, so my problems have not yet been resolved.
