Returned mine, as the straps/hardware do not function properly. The basic problem is that when I set the backpack and shoulder straps to the right length, they would not stay in that position. The hardware does not grip the straps as it should, and so the straps slip, and there's nothing that can be done to remedy. I had one shoulder strap slip out of it's slider/ring hardware so that the bag fell (not what you want with 2 long guns in there!). If you don't want the backpack or shoulder straps, the bag would be ok, but if you don't want those features, then I'm sure there are less expensive alternatives anyway. I found a better alternative (with functional backpack & shoulder straps) at a large retail brick & mortar outdoor chain, a store I normally avoid because their prices are usually awful. Got a better bag at $10 less, to my surprise. No go on the Explorer PAT 3 Gunner.

This is an excellent idea gun case. What they don't tell you that it's a FIVE gun case. You got the foldable shooting mat in the middle that serves as it's own slot for a long gun. Then the center and left pouch that that house an additional two pistols. One has a zipper and the other has a click lock so no worries about retention and security. The AR style mag pouches can hold TWO mags each! Don't wanna bring so many? Fine but a Gatorade bottle in there for hydration. It will fit. Inside the case comes with four Velcro straps for each end of the rifle totaling sixteen straps. The cases come in different sizes. My review is based on the middle sized one which is the 42". This was definitely the smartest investment when it comes to weapon Transportation. Don't hold out on this one. Your guns will thank you

First thing everyone fails to mention - mine is 42 inches on the INSIDE. It JUST fits a 20" barrel Benelli M1.

I drug this to a 3-gun match just one time so far but it sure does seem as good as people say - and while I was there I counted like 5 more just like it on the range. To me it's a matter of perspective and in this case it pretty much boils down to value. The zippers feel good, the material seems tough and for the money you just can't go wrong. I actually looked at a bunch of the cheap bags like this and there are a bunch of them - all about the same. This one actually is a little different from the rest of the pack, which is why I ended up getting it. Firstly it has a piece of foam around the "sides" which makes it more box-like when closed. Additionally, the outside foam is hard, almost rigid. This bag is very protective and holds its shape on its own.

The only couple downsides I can see; it is a little heavy all by itself so by the time you've added a couple guns and filled the pockets, it makes for a heavy bag. Second, if you've got big turrets on your optic combined with say an oversized bolt handle on your shotgun, you start getting objects poking at the sides of the bag. Like I said, it's all well protected but it's something to consider. If I could redesign the bag based on these observations, I would make it probably less "tall" and a little "thicker" or "wider" or however you want to say it, to accommodate charging handles and other protrusions that tend to be part of the firearm world. Lastly, the velcro straps inside are in a slightly different arrangement in mine than the pictures (there are 4 of them oriented in pairs) and they really aren't super useful. Seems like every gun I throw in there falls in a slightly different spot, so I end up just chucking the guns in and calling it good. Extra lastly, I thought the backpack straps were a good idea, and maybe in certain situations they really are, but I ended up just carrying the thing by the handles. It's heavy when loaded, kinda large and awkward to put on and now the straps are sitting somewhere in a pile of other stuff I don't use.

It still gets 5 stars because I would recommend it to anyone. Bottom line is, you already know something like this is gonna be heavy and kinda big and awkward, so I don't fault the bag so much. Sure, the dimensions could be refined a little but the next guy is going to want something different from me. The backpack straps are a meh for me. I didn't really care if it had them or not, I just thought they might come in handy and they still might. But if they don't I'm totally indifferent.

I was looking for an alternative to my longer, bulkier 48+ inch cases.

Currently, I use this particular bag for a bullpup and another rifle with a folding stock. The removable padded divider is extremely useful - especially at the range. Not only does it provide protection from firearms rubbing against each other but upon removal, it acts as a great mat at the range to keep your firearms and equipment from getting scuffed. If you were to try and use the bag for its stated "3 rifle" capability, that would entail a rifle to be inserted into the divider. I would say it's possible, but definitely snug. In my case, since one of my rifles has a folding stock, which makes it wider, I can only fit those two rifles. The larger middle pocket, though, can easily carry a firearm such as a pistol which makes this ideal for 3-gun. The outer pockets are perfect for magazines, tools, safety glasses, ears, etc.

This is exactly what I was looking for. The OD green looks even better in person, pictures don't do it justice. Quality is extremely good for the price. It fits my two AR's very well, and I can definitely fit a third gun with ease. The extra storage and pouches are great too. I was able to fit three 30 round magazines in each slot, 9 total without any problems. I highly recommend this case. I would definitely buy again.
