finish and easy deployment of the knife
Clayton Pulley•August 31, 2017
I am a knife collector, a friend showed me this knife, I was very impressed with the fit, finish and easy deployment of the knife. The steel is decent for the price. This is a great addition to my collection and rotation. Caution: this is a very big knife and could intimidate. CRKT has a smaller version, but doesn't fit in hand as well as this one. Go big or stay on the porch.
Excellent knife for the price!
Matt James•August 28, 2017
This is an amazing knife for the price. It's built solid, has the features I wanted in an everyday carry, and looks great! The clip is a bit flimsy but it hasn't broken yet after almost a year now of EDC. I originally wanted an assisted opening but settled for this one because I read so much about the bearing system in this knife and it did not disappoint. With a press of the flipper, the blade flys out so fast you'd think it was assisted opening anyway! This is a fairly large knife. It's bigger than what I was used to and can feel a bit cumbersome at times. If I were to buy again I would probably go with the smaller version.
They Could Easily Sell This For $200+
BeenieBomb•March 12, 2017
I would not be bothered if they charged $200+ for this knife, it is that good. The pictures and video honestly don't do it justice; there's not many products that you can truly feel the build quality by simply holding it, but this is one of them. I could go on and on about how everything on this knife is perfect, but you heard it there: everything about this knife, right out of the box, is indeed perfect. I'm extremely picky when it comes to knives, and because of that, I've been on the hunt for the perfect knife: style, utility, and build, for years now, and I think I can confidently say that I'm at the end of the journey now (and for just 60 USD! Still can't believe that).
Seriously, can't recommend this enough to anyone. If you think you might even be slightly interested in this knife: buy it.

It's a very good looking folding knife
Otter with an AK•January 9, 2017
Holy smokes! This Fossil is incredible, in many ways.
It's a very good looking folding knife, that screams UNIQUE!
It is one of the very few knives I did not have to resharpen right out of the box. I'm very particular in the level of sharpness I want in a user knife. I want scalpel sharpness, and, this knife delivered right out of the box. For me, this is a rare occurrence.
The ball bearing system in this folder is second to none. It is sooo smooth, it borders on ridiculous. If this is your first folding knife that uses a ball bearing system, prepare to be amazed by the action on this knife. Oh, and also, prepare to get bitten if you're not careful, because, this knife will guillotine your fingers, if you are not careful. The ball bearings, and, slightly loose pivot pin, allow the blade to fully gravity close once the Frame Lock is disengaged. This can be rectified by tightening the pivot pin with a standard Torx T-8 driver. Fortunately though, the flipper/guard engages your finger before the blade's business side introduces itself to your digits. Just a note to be careful when first getting used to the knife's nuances.
The gimping on the spine of the blade works well, and, locks your thumb in place when you need to do finer cutting jobs.
The Fossil is an absolute joy to play with. Flipping it open just feels good. It's action is so smooth I just can't put it down.
To summarize, this folder is an amazing knife to add to your collection, or, as your EDC. I would have no problem recommending this knife.

My favorite everyday carry
Rlilgeberg•December 13, 2016
I have zero tolerance, cold steel, kabar and all kinds of different everyday carry knives. This is my favorite. My cold steel voyager is probably the sharpest out of the box. I love this knife because it is not quite as wide when closed and is a functional piece of art. I've been a fan of crkt for a while. This is my 4th crkt knife and I also have the viva multi-tool. The action is super smooth. I'd have said it was spring assisted if I didn't know otherwise. It sharpens easily and holds an edge pretty well. The blade is pretty much as long as my cold steel voyager but it doesn't feel as bulky in my pocket. People complain about the clip in the reviews but I have no problem with it. It does stick out a little more and may catch things a little more than others but I've had no problems and I've been carrying it for a few months now. This is definitely the coolest looking knife in my collection. The edges on the thumb assist and the gimping are a little rough out of the box but I can already feel that they are wearing down. This knife is a steal at anything under than $50.
