Works, hinge is weird when first installing but drive fit well.

Read a few reviews, this one seemed to be the highest rated to add a hard drive to a PS3 super slim. I ended up getting a used PS3 SS a few weeks ago and was disappointed to see it only had a 12 GB HDD. I had a spare Solid State HD sitting around, put it in this caddy, and slapped it into the PS3. Increased capacity in 15 minutes. I've built a few computer systems back in the day and have seen a range of hard drive caddies. I was really impressed by the quality and fit of this product.

I purchased a Sony Computer Entertainment Playstation 3 12GB System to replace my original PS3, the 12GB PS3 has enough space for one or two small games, but the onboard storage won't hold the full install of PS3 Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition , and I wanted to install a bunch of other games including Call of Duty Advanced Warefare and Grand Theft Auto 5, I paired this with an Crucial MX300 275GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT275MX300SSD1 and the load times for games are virtually nonexistent compared to the original PS3's 5400 RPM drive, or the built in 12GB solid State drive... This made my base model 12GB PS3 better than the 500GB by leaps and bounds, and this combination represents an optimal value.

The installation of the SSD was very easy, i left the PS3 off for a while unplugged, slid. The lid off, this kit includes the screws needed to attach the hard drive or SSD to the bracket, the top of the 12GB PS3 slides off easily, it's held on with clips, the bracket with the drive slides right in, you screw the bracket into the hard drive slot in the PS3, slide the top back on and it clicks in, then you plug in the PS3, boot it up and it transfers all of your information, data and settings by itself before rebooting and then you're off to the races!

As mentioned, load times which were frequent on my old PS3 are virtually non existent, games run faster, I have way more storage before, and the satisfaction of doing it myself.

Perfect in every way! Upgrading the hard drive on a PS3 Slim only to find there was no tray, just the empty place where the hard drive would go. Ordered this product for $7 and it fit like a glove. It even came with screws to keep it secure in the tray. Could not have asked for anything more. I'd think It was made by Sony themselves, if it weren't for such a reasonable price.

Once I wrestled an errant shock mount back into it's proper place in the bracket all was smooth. Aesthetics might not mean much for a part that is going to spend eternity inside a device but this is the nicest looking product of it's type I've seen to date. On the downside a couple simple illustrations added to the instructions would help immeasurably, but it doesn't prevent you from using the product, just makes something you may not understand as clear as you might hope it could be.
