The Pet Loader has certainly solved a problem with getting my dog in and out of the car with a reduced risk of injury. You'll need to spend a few minutes training the pup to ascend and descend on these steps, and then life gets easier for both of you. The only thing I'd add is that the Pet Loader may be a bit heavy for some users (It's about 30 pounds--I got the four-step XL 18"), so I recommend using a proper lifting posture to get it in and out of the vehicle. Also, you'll need to train your dog to pace themselves coming up and down the steps. Mine fell off once or twice early on. Now, she walks up and down the steps easily, and I worry far less about her hips, shoulders and joints. This is an excellent and durable product, and I recommend it.
Sturdy and worth the price

Very happy with this purchase. I chose the Loader over a ramp that might bow under my dogs' weight because my 100-pound male shepherd pancakes when you try to get him to walk over a bridge. These steps are sturdy, and it only took a couple of times coaxing them with cheese to get them used to it.
We love the Pet Loader stairs, Malamute approved.

Pros:
They are made out of a very sturdy thick plastic material. This was very important because I knew our 150lbs Malamute would not want to use something that sagged under weight. I could walk up it myself at 200lbs and didn't feel much deflection under my weight... didn't even feel worried about it possibly breaking.
Each step is carpeted for grip.
Our big wuss of a Malamute had no problem walking right up without nothing more than telling him to. No treat required! I was worried about him having confidence in the stairs.
Worked great for my truck.
Cons:
The stairs are a bit heavy to lug around or to pick up and throw into the back of the truck.
Cost is a bit steep and I was worried about no Prime return policy but didn't need it.
Would not work for my wife's SUV side door, but I figured that before buying it.
First we purchased a competitor ramp design and first thing I noticed was it was too narrow for the Malamute's shoulder width then secondly it deflected just under me pushing on it with my hands... no way I was going to test it myself let alone the dog.
If I was to suggest something to the manufacture.
1st: It would be to spring load the locking arms to open making it easier to close.
2nd: I didn't feel much deflection at all @ 200lbs. Maybe make a similar product but thin it down and de-rate the load bearing?

PERFECT SOLUTION getting big dogs in storm cellar

We could not be any more excited than to have comes across this awesome solution of getting our French Mastiff down in to our storm cellar safely!!! She felt more comfortable being on a leash when going thru practice run up & down our very high bed she can't get on by herself. I had her favorite treat right in front of her nose, so she'd actually gotten up the steps without realizing due to following the treat. By time we did practice run in cellar, she did great! My suggestion if getting this for your storm cellar get the 5 step. We got the 4 step but its a bit at a slant & have ordered addition to make it 5 steps to be level. At a slant, it's still AMAZING!!!
Amazing product, owner's SUPER nice & helpful! I'm going to be telling everyone about!!

Should've started with this product first. My dog is 150 lb and recently stopped jumping up into my Jeep. So I bought the Twist step that plugs into the hitch. We didn't even start training with that because when it swings under the Jeep it has to be so low to clear the gas tank it was in danger of scraping. Then I bought a plain hitch platform. Too small. Then, on a coworkers advice, a ramp. It was pretty steep once placed in position on the Jeep, and it freaked my dog out that it flexed under his weight. He walked up once and didn't want to use it even to get down. Finally, I bit the bullet and bought these steps. Oddly, the pros and the cons for me are the same. They are made of heavy duty plastic, so they are very sturdy, but that makes them a bit heavy. The step platforms are large, also improving safety and confidence for your best pal, but it means taking up a lot of space in my little vehicle when folded and stowed. For me, I have the steps on the seat or floor on the passenger side in front. So no passenger. I could make my dog deal with them in the back for a short trip if I really needed/wanted a front passenger, but it's a little tight. Anyone with a full or mid size SUV will be OK. Another pro (no con here!) - no training required. Set these down, unfold them, and your dog knows exactly exactly what to do. So overall, I have to give 5 stars because really there is nothing I would change, except maybe next time I might think about 4 door Wrangler! ;-)
