I bought this for my niece, who has a used car and is in college, when she went to the dealership after her engine light went on and they gave her an outrageous price for a giant problem. She called me upset, so I asked her to bring it to my friend who is a smaller local mechanic, he said the problem was much smaller, and fixed it for about $500 less than what she was quoted at the dealership. As I woman, I have had this happen a lot to me in my life, so when my friend recommended my niece get one of these scanners, I hopped online and started looking. I chose this one because of all the great reviews, saying it was easy to use and accurate. It is in fact easy to use. We downloaded an free app (Torque Pro) to her phone, and plugged the scanner into her car. Then we started her car, enabled Bluetooth, paired the device, and it connected. So easy. The app gives you all the information you need to walk into the mechanic knowing what you actually need, you don't have to just trust what the dealership tells you. My niece is a student so a device like this can save her money, and also give her confidence to know she knows she isn't getting taken for money every time her check engine light comes on. For this great price I really do feel like it'll pay for itself in both money and piece of mind. It makes me wonder how many unneeded repairs I've paid for in my life. Well not my niece, she's going to be assured that she knows the diagnostic problem before she even takes it to the mechanic. I wish I had a device like this, but I have an iPhone so I'm going to have to order the one that works on IOS. I'm sticking with the same brand and seller though, as I am very pleased with this one. This gets five stars from me because it uses a free app, it is easy to set up and use, it works exactly as advertised and the price is amazing for what you get, it literally reads the OBDII codes then through the app it tells you what they mean. This is great to have so you don't have to rely on what someone else tells you is wrong with your car, so that you are informed before you ever even walk into the dealership. Great product!
Pleasantly Surprised

Other reviews have knocked this device but it worked great for my 2005 Ford Explorer XLT and 2016 Chevy Cruze. You need to purchase one of the apps to use the device. Connecting the Bluetooth is unusual in that it does not ID itself as Foseal, OBD2, or any logical device, so be aware of that. I bought all the apps suggested and the best was OBD Car Doctor Pro for $3 vs Torque for $10, the device just interfaced better using an android system and Car Doctor Pro, there is a free version but it is limited and does not look-up codes automatically for more details.

I had blown a fuse that managed my fuel system, specifically the O2 sensors, so my fuel mix was too rich. I was able to calibrate my speedometer and check dozens of efficiency items that really made a difference and I am not a formally trained mechanic but self-taught by necessity. Anyway, the sensor saved me much more than the cost to tow the vehicle to a shop. My experience has been excellent, and you can keep the unit plugged into your interface all the time and its not obtrusive like the others.
Shazzam.

It's blue and it works.
It doesn't work, and customer service is lousy

I ordered this item on the basis of the good reviews, so maybe it's just a quality control issue, but the only thing that works is the LED which gave me the false hope that it might work if I tried enough apps. That was foolish of me because I let too much time go by and I can't return it. Don't make that mistake. If the app says it can't find a Bluetooth device, return it. The company's customer service is virtually nonexistent. I said I wanted to exchange it since it was still under warranty, and all I got was a form-letter e-mail in broken English telling me how to use it. I know how to use it if it worked, but it doesn't. If I ever manage to exchange it for a functioning unit, I'll change my review, but for now it's a useless hunk of plastic.
Bluetooth VS Wifi...... BLUETOOTH IS AWESOME!!!

Been using this Bluetooth one for a few weeks now. I bought the WIFI one as well. Personally I use the Bluetooth one more than the WIFI one, there is no lag using the Bluetooth one. I do notice a slight lag in the WIFI one though. So I went out and bought a 2nd cell phone and mount just for the OBD scanner, don't need cell service to use the Bluetooth one. I mounted it in my SUV and love it. It helped me with a few issues I was having. I will also say that DASHCOMMAND is by far the BEST app to use. You can customize your layout or download free skins that others have made and it's awesome. I paid the $9.95 to unlock all features and extra codes. My recommendation is to get the Bluetooth one and DASHCOMMAND. I downloaded and paid for all the other top rated ones and always went back to dash command. Great product and I will be buying and recommending more to everyone.
