Excellent device. Perfect design, stout construction. Great leverage making it easy to pull out the cork and the structure of the lever helps avoid drilling down deep in the cork. (Drilling down expands the cork against the sides of the bottle.) Best of the many hand corkscrews I've used over the years.

Bought both the Ebony Wood and Pakka Wood versions and quite pleased. Takes a little getting used to the different feel of the 2-stage action (much stiffer than what I'm used to), but not a problem at all and appreciate the construction quality & attractive looks especially considering the low cost.

The stars are only for the appearance ( beautiful)because I have only used it once and found it awkward......but I know that is because I need experience with it. Luckily, I was at The Zoetrope Cafe in San Fransisco this week where the sommelier used the exact opener on a bottle of Pinot Noir. She did it fluidly and easily and I hope to use her technique soon. BTW, I recommend the Directors Reserve Pinot Noir (Fancis Ford Coppola).
