Vanity/Desk Lighting
NLA✓ Verified Purchase•November 26, 2017
I used the magnets to mount it to the magnetic back of my desk, and it works great as a vanity/makeup station for me. I bought the cool and warm light combo, however I find that the lights are the best when they are both on. The cool white is very white, while the warm light is very yellow. Both together creates a very natural light, which is what I prefer for using as a vanity/putting on makeup. Otherwise they are very bright and work well, and if I was writing or using a computer I could see the different light colors coming in handy.
Attaching the magnets was easy, however the cord does block one of the slots where the magnet screws go, so when you use a screwdriver (I used the small one that came with the light) it digs into the coating on the cord and scratches it. I was careful to not damage it too much but it was unavoidable since the cord can't be moved completely out of the way. I used the 3 cord clips to mount the cord to the side of my desk using the provided sticky pads, they fell off a few times but with pressure they have stayed on so far. I also used the provided sticky circles to stick the switch to the desk as well and have been able to reposition it a few times.
The only issue I have found is that today the lights (both lights, on together and on separately) started rapidly blinking. It did not stop when turned off and immediately turned back on, but did stop after they were switched off for several minutes. I have only had the light about a week and have used them every day and this is the first issue I have had, however I am concerned that this is the start of a bigger issue.

The brightness is amazing!

The brightness is amazing! Don't stare a it! The different methods of installation are all very useful. I just bought another one to put it under my range hood with the magnetic attachment. I have a lot of power-supplies I can use for tjat. I like the color temperature. Not too yellow. I used my first one to illuminate my extended desk behind one of my extra monitors, powered by my computer I may buy another soon. I've used a lot of different USB powered lighting systems, and other kinds of led strips, and this is the best strip on the market by far. In my opinion.
it's okay enough

I use this to add some light to my desk which doesn't get great light. I wouldn't recommend it as a sole light source because it's not bright enough by its self. Certainly, it's enough light to get around and see what you are doing but not for productivity. I measured the power that this light uses and it uses 7.5W not 10W which is disappointing. I tested it using a 12W power supply so the power supply is not the issue. It's not all that I ever hoped and dreamed about but it's okay enough that I'm not going to return it, mostly due to my lack o desire to shop or light fixtures.
The little light that could

Warm White. Great little light. It provides enough light on my desk overhang to allow me to see my keyboard without turning on the overhead lighting. It gives off a fair amount of light, but using more than one (or using both Warm and Cool on the other model) would give you more light if needed. The mounting hardware appears sufficient for most applications.
If I needed more than one bar for my application, though, I'd probably buy a different model that allows "chaining" the bars so that there is only one switch. This particular model would force you to turn on multiple switches to get more light.

... very handy solution for lighting up a dim area like a closet or desktop

This is a very handy solution for lighting up a dim area like a closet or desktop. I use mine on an old Hammond organ I gutted and refitted as a desk with a folding cover. As pictured, when the desk is open it's a little dark inside so I affixed this light under the back section inside. It has a daylight and a warmer white mode that can be used together or separately with individual switches. I've got it plugged into a USB power splitter on my desktop. It provides ample light for the whole desk. You'll want to install it not facing your eyes directly, as it is quite bright.
