Clamp pushes on the side buttons

I love the small size tubing and suction cup - doesn't distract or take up too much of the window - but I can't seem to find a way to get my phone(s) to stay in the clamp without the clamp pushing down on the buttons.
I have an iphone 7 personal phone and a galaxy s8 for work - both phones do the same thing when you first put them into the clamp - they either lock, or volume down because the clamp is hitting the side buttons - it takes a few tries to get it to line up - the clamps should be a little wider to avoid this issue.

Great for a Moto G5 Plus. Not so great for a ZTE Warp. The ZTE is just so wide, the grippers can hold it, but it's maxed out.

Very sturdy. You can see on the pic it holds a pretty large phone. That is an S8+ with battery case. It does not stick to my dash and I'm in a state where a window cover is pretty necessary so it's a bit annoying that I have to take it down every time I park the car but otherwise happy. I don't have a CD player to stick that style into, and don't like the vent style so this is the next best thing
