Silly name, amazing comfort

Ridiculous techno name, fantastic tool. I must admit that I am a bit of a Luddite or retro-grouch when it comes to hand tools. I would prefer hand-forged high-carbon steel hung correctly on a properly oriented hickory helve. However, I have broken both of my wrists over the years and splitting any amount of wood with my old maul started to cause days of aching, creaky wrists... enter this gem. The fancy rubber "Iso Core" gizmo does clearly soften shock and minimize what gets transmitted down the glass-filled-nylon and rubber overmold (shudder) handle. It came sharp and ready to go. The head is stainless and appears appropriately heat-treated; several overstrikes into rocky soil have not chipped nor bent the edge and it resharpens quickly with a file. I really like this tool in spite of itself. It is half the price of a quality maul or splitting axe. This is a true maul with an 8 pound head; you will get the exercise you seek when you swing this thing. My only real complaint is that the orange rubber overmold will likely degrade in just a year or two and it is sticky enough that it hampers efforts to slide when you swing. If I figure something out I will update this review.
Packs a punch, it makes splitting wood easy and effortless.

I have to say that this thing is like Hercules. It packs a punch and splitting wood is now so much easier and effortless but above all so much easier and forgiving on my back. The revolutionary design combines the aspects of a great axe and a great wedge. Extremely well balanced and made out of very tough and durable materials that will last a lifetime. The other great thing this tool has going for it is that it's also able to be used as a sledgehammer which is what sold me on it because I can split wood and drive wedges into large logs and while camping or expeditions I can drive the large ground stakes of my military tent or my cavas tent into the ground with ease. It's very forgiving on my hands during long jos thanks to its handle material design and texture. If you split wood and also have the need for an awesome sledgehammer look no further than this multiple tools in one item, you will not be disappointed because I am most certainly NOT.
Good luck and happy splitting

Awesome tool for splitting wood.

Very little vibration and well balanced. Make sure to keep it sharp like the x27. The only downside of this maul is the collar. I've seen them blown away before. A Winton maul or x27 will look just like it did before the splitting occurs. The tool cleans up well with simple green, ballistol, and a Lansky dual grit sharpener/honing oil. In fact any yard tool that cuts can benefit from these products. It's probably the best value for the money in today's wood splitting by hand market.
great mail

This is a great maul for splitting firewood. It seems well constructed and durable. It's handle is comfortable and does appear to absorb shock a bit. It is well balanced which helps with a smooth motion. We've we cut some logs that have been on the ground for about a year and split with this. So, the pieces were not super dry, but this maul handled it. Heavy knotted and wetter pieces were a bit tough, but not a fault of the maul. This is a great one!
Behold!! Mjölnir Reforged!

I've been splitting wood wrong my whole life. Seriously. I should have bought this decades ago.
I heat my home with a wood stove. I'm also cheap and buy rounds. They're cheaper than split wood, and hey, I get a good workout splitting and stacking them.
For all my life I've used an axe, a wedge, and a 5lb short handle sledge. Over the past summer I somehow lost the sledge somewhere on my 7 acre property. Went here to buy a replacement, and stumbled upon this amazing device. Sure, it is expensive. But I intuitively grasped the implication of its design. It arrived two days ago.
Oh. My. Gawd.
It flies through pine rounds like a hot knife through soft butter. It splits hefty rounds with ease. It feels as if I am Gandalf wielding Glamdring. Rounds split asunder like the cheap helms of orcs. It exhorts you to holler like a Viking warrior as you vanquish rounds into firewood. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!! It is only after you have surrounded yourself with the shards of the vanquished now piled knee deep that you realize that your body is weary, your brow dripping, your breath short, and your body steaming in the chill air - that you realize in a few minutes you have split a month's worth of heat. You can rest.
My sole complaint is that it is TOO EFFECTIVE. it flies through the subject round and has begun to split my sturdy anvil of a very large Ponderosa Pine round I have been using as a base for splitting for years. I may need to place some plywood as a protective layer to preserve it.
This is a fine tool. I will cherish it. I will use it. I will pass it down to my sons as a family heirloom.
