I have a hard time finding comfortable hiking shoes due to my wide feet ("bedrock stompers" according to my uncle....). When I found the Ahnu shoes I was soooo happy. They are stylish and comfortable with no breaking period required. Unfortunately, they are not well made as they do not hold up. I am on my second pair in as many years. These shoes do not remain waterproof for long and flaps on the front of the shoes have pulled back and made them completely useless for wet conditions, even for some wet grass. They also do not dry well once wet and will end up smelling something awful.

Also the soles on these shoes are not adequate for hiking. I found myself slipping repeatedly on the trail while my friend's shoes gripped the trail as one would expect of hiking shoes.

I debated buying another pair and decided I will have to try some other options. I can't afford to keep dropping $100+ every year for a pair of hiking shoes.

The Ahnu shoe line has perfect arch and foot support for me. I have a foot issue and need either this type of fit or custom orthotics. They actually breathe quite well even though they look like your feet would be sweaty. This ventilation claim is true. I have even hosed off my shoes after getting them muddy, and they dry very quickly, but don't get very wet inside. Weird magic:) Anyhow, after about a month of constant wear, the right and then the left shoe developed a truely annoying squeak. After much testing I found it to be the inside sole rubbing on the outer arch layer eVent. Now I only wear these if they are the only shoe that matches, or if I know I'll be in a noisy environment anyway. Removing the insert of the shoe and replacing with a Super Feet insole has helped- but those are really expensive. I don't think one should have to do that for a $80 pair of shoes. I actually bought a different style of Ahnu for my daily wear and they do not squeak.

I bought these recently to wear on an African safari and they worked great! I wear a size 7 and have somewhat narrow feet and the size 7 fit me perfectly! I tried 4 different pairs of shoes and I liked these best. The others I tried that did not work for me were: Ahnu Women's Sugarpine Hiking Shoe, Salomon Women's Ellipse GTX Hiking Shoe, and Salomon Women's Ellipse 2 Aero W Hiking Shoe. I really like these shoes and will wear them a lot. They give my feet good support and do not slip up and down on my heel, a problem I have with some shoes. For sneakers, I usually wear New Balance, whichever models made for good stabilizing support and these Ahnu hiking shoes help with that also. Love them!

I purchased these shoes prior to my recent trip to Olympic National Park. They were comfortable right out of the box, but I did wear them about 30 days ahead of time just in case. Throughout a week of rain, trail mud and hiking over tree roots and rocks, my feet stayed warm and dry. The only time my feet got wet was no fault of the shoes~we just stayed out in the tide pools too long and we couldn't beat the tide in to the beach. After wringing out my socks, my feet stayed warm all day, even if wet. I had ordered up a half size, but really didn't need to although they fit great with an extra pair of socks. I did add a pair of Nathan elastic lock laces, which were fabulous. I am very satisfied with these Ahnu shoes and will be purchasing more of this brand.

I love these shoes so much that I have them multiple colors (truth be told in almost all the colors). They have become my go to winter/rain shoes. They are non slip and keep my feet dry and warm. I initially was concerned that they would look too much like hiking shoes but the don't. It's a very subtle design. They go great with jeans and khakis. I have received many compliments on them. The shoes have a soft leather look that I like. I have seen reviews about them being a tight fit. I have average to wide feet and have not had any issues. I wear a 9 and purchased the 9 and they fit. I don't wear thick socks, so if you plan to wear thick socks, then a half size larger may work, I can't say for sure. My only minor complaint would be that the black and dark brown color do not come in the soft leather and look like regular leather shoes which in my opinion do not compliment the design well. I kept the dark brown and returned the black. I have other shoes from the Ahnu brand and enjoy them as well. The quality of the material is good and have not had any issues yet.
