I give the 15-pound Hakka direct drive mixer 4 stars. The mixer worked well mixing a batch of meat for snack sticks. It was a bit hard to turn and made me think the gear driven model would have been a little better. Another reason for the 4-star review is the wingnuts that hold the mixer paddle to the end shafts are hard to work. Very tight for old fat fingers. I made a tool to help with that. It seemed to be at capacity with 10 pounds of ground meat, and 2 pounds of cheese chunks. Overall, for the money it worked well. It did the job in half the time of mixing it by hand. And it was easier than hand mixing. Down the road when my budget is more flexible, I will get a larger unit that has some gear reduction. I would recommend this for anyone that needs a mixer on a limited budget.

This thing comfortably fits a 20# batch, would probably fit 25# too. Easy to use and clean. Easily dismantled and reassembled for cleaning. Superior to hand mixing, with no backaches and cold fingers. I do not regret buying this unit.
